Travaris Robinson - former South Carolina CB’s coach, from Miami & played his college ball at Auburn.

As has already been discussed heavily on the board, is easily one of the highest regraded CB’s coaches & recruiters in the business, has a long illustrious history of being a big time recruiter on the trail, having signed prospects like former 5-star CB VH3 (at UF) 5-star DT Jordan Burch (at South Car), 5-star CB **** Tabor (at UF), 4-star Safety Marcell Harris (at UF), 4-star Jamyest Williams (at South Car), 4-star Safety Keanu Neal (at UF), 4-star DT Caleb Brantley (at UF), 4-star RB Jordan Scarlett (at UF), 4-star ATH/QB Treon Harris (ice Harris’s son at UF), 4-star CB Cam Smith (at South Car), 4-star DT Khairi Clark (was a DT from Chaminade that signed with UF), 4-star CB Duke Dawson (at UF), 4-star DT Jay-Nard Bostwick (at UF from Port St. Lucie), 4-star LB Rosendo Louis (at South Car, LB from DFB), 3-star DT Keri Thomas (at South Car, from Miami Central), 3-star ATH Brandon Powell (at UF, from Deerfield, I’m sure many of you remember his recruitment), 3-star LB Jahmar Brown (at South Car, from Miami Pace/STA), 3-star CB Dominick Hill (at South Car, from Orlando), 3-star DE Aaron Thompson (at South car, from Dillard) & 3-star CB John Dixon (at South Car, from Tampa), along with many many more.

But his best achievements as a coach & recruiter are landing:
- Carlton Davis, former 4-star CB from Norland that he recruited &nsigned to Auburn & went on to become a 2nd round pick for the Buccs.
- JC Jackson an Immokalee kid that he recruited & signed to UF, JC unfortunately had some off the field issues & wound up leaving UF, but after transferring to Maryland went on to be an UDFA for the Patriots where he has developed into legitimately one of the top 5 CB’s in the NFL, with having back to back Pro Bowl seasons in his first 3 years in the league & this year finished the season 2nd in INT’s with 9 picks & 14 PBU’s.
- Quincy Wilson at UF at the end of the Muschamp regime, who went on to become a 2nd round pick for the Colts
- Jaycee Horn, son of former NFL WR Joe Horn, he’s a 4-star from Alpharetta GA that has been developed into one of the best CB’s in college football & is projected to be a 1st-2nd round pick in the 2021 draft.

Would be the biggest coaching hire Diaz had made on Defense & would absolutely murder the recruiting trail solving our huge problem recruiting CB’s. The no brainer hands down top choice, doesn’t matter in what capacity he’s brought on staff, give him whatever title he wants, but landing him would be a game changer.

Aaron Fletcher - Current CB’s coach at Tulsa, is from Austin TX, he started out coaching HS down in Texas in Austin, Dallas, Lancaster & DeSoto, one of the top players he coached while at DeSoto was former LSU CB/S & current starting Safety for the Eagles Jalen Mills.

He got his college career started at Houston Baptist & was there for 2 years before getting hired at Tulsa. While at Tulsa he had them in 2018 ranked 8th in the nation in Pass Defense & 4th in the nation Defensive pass efficiency & in 2019 had CB Reggie Robinson II leading the AAC in PBU’s. He recruited signed & developed Reggie Robinson II into a 4th round draft pick in the 2020 draft & has currently developed CB Allie Green into a Thorpe award finalist & will also be drafted this year.

He’s a guy that has been mentioned to me by several 7v7 coaches I’m friends with down in TX as someone who’s a well respected coach & has good scouting ability being able to identify high upside corners & get them developed & prepared for the league.

James Rowe - currently at App St, is originally from Cocoa & played baseball at USF, got his start coaching at Jacksonville University under two former UF alums HC Kerwin Bell & DC Jerry Odom. He also coached at UF as a GA in 2015 for McElwain’s first season, he was brought on staff by Randy Shannon, he had a brief stint at Valdosta State & had been an assistant CB’s coach for the Redskins with Torrian Gray who is the current CB’s coach for UF as well. After being in the NFL for the last 3 years Eli Drinkwitz hired him at App St for this season & he helped develop former 2-star CB Shemar Jean-Charles from Miramar into one of the highest graded CB’s in college football & will be a NFL draft pick.

He currently has also signed Travis “Lil Trap” McNichols (from CC/MNW) & S Jaquan Lowman from Apopka.

He’s a smart young coach with both NFL & college experience & has done a good job at App St this season, obviously not the big superstar name that everyone would want but is a guy who would have a Hickson like effect were he to come here, in that he’s a savvy technical CB coach who is also a grinder & would do well on the trail. Many people were skeptical about Hickson when he was first hired here because he had only coached at Akron & K-State before coming to Miami, but once he came back home to South FL with more resources behind him he became a recruiting dynamo on the trail because he came from previous stops where he had to work really hard to sign recruits, I see a similar parallel with Coach Rowe.

Aaron Henry - currently at Vanderbilt, is originally from Immokalee & played on their State championship team in 04 & played CB in college at Wisconsin for Bielema.

He started out coaching as a GA for 2 years in Arkansas under DC Robb Smith (who’s the current DC at Rutgers), he then got hired as CB’s coach for Rutgers on Chris Ash’s staff, he then got hired at NC State n 2017 by Dave Doeren as Safeties coach, the following 2 season he moved to CB’s coach. While at NC State he recruited & signed Nakia Robinson (from Miami Jackson), 4-star CB Taiyon Palmer (from Georgia), Tanner Ingle (Orlando), Teshaun Smith (from Western FTL), Malik Dunlap (from Charlotte NC), Shyheim Battle (from NC), Cecil Powell (from Piper), Devan Boykin (from NC), Joshua Pierre-Louis (from Palm beach/Benjamin School) & in his first year at Vandy this season signed Tyson Russell from STA (son of former Cane LB Twan Russell).

He’s a guy who was in HS & played during the same time as I was that I know personally, he definitely knows his stuff in the teaching aspect of Cornerback coaching, another smart hard worker that can recruit & is very patched in on the local South FL 7v7 scene, IMO would do very well on the trail for Miami.

Rod Chance - current CB’s coach at Oregon, is originally from Ft. Lauderdale played his college ball at Rhode Island, but was a well known track star from his days at STA.

Started out coaching in HS at Alpharetta in Georgia for 4 years, he then got hired his alma mater Rhode Island & then hired by James Franklin at Vanderbilt as a Defensive QC coach. Next he got hired at Southern Utah as D Coordinator for 2 years under Demario Warren, he then got hired by Cristobal at Oregon as a Defensive analyst in 2018, headed to Minnesota as CB’s coach for a year in 2019 on PJ Fleck’s staff, then Cristobal brought him back as the CB’s coach at Oregon last year.

While at Minnesota he signed Douglas Emilien the 3-star WR from AH we tried to sign but missed on in the 2020 class, 3-star Safety Michael Dixon from GA & 3-star CB Jalen Glaze from Tallahassee. At Oregon he signed high rated 4-star CB Jaylin Davies from Mater Dei in this 21 class.

He’s one of Cristobal’s foot soldiers on the recruiting trail, a very good recruiter, Idk if we could steal him from Oregon, but he definitely needs to be a guy to be considered, he would light it up here at Miami & would fix our Broward CB recruiting overnight, he’s well respected locally & is a guy that knows South FL recruiting very well.

Perry Eliano - current CB’s coach at Cincinnati, originally from Texas, played at SFA & started out coaching at SFA as a GA, then Central Ark as a RB’s coach, then at Sam Houston St as a DB coach, then returned to Central Ark coaching CB’s for 4 years, then got hired at UTSA as ST’s coach for 5 years under our very own Larry Coker, he then went to Bowling Green for 2 years & was at New Mexico as ST’s/CB’s coach under Bob Davie before getting hired at Cincinnati.

The Nati had the 2nd highest ranked secondary by PFF, lead by ELite cover corner Ahmad Garner, as well as corners Coby Bryant & Arquon Bush & Safeties Darrick Forrest & James Wiggins. However, he didn’t recruit any of these kids, but anyone who watched Cincinnati’s secondary this year you can clearly see their Secondary is extremely well coached, they were the best Man coverage team in college football forcing a 34.9 QBR vs opposing QB’s & had the lowest completion % of any Secondary unit in college.

He’s a very good fundamental X’s & O’s coach, but his recruiting is still a question mark. This being his first year at Cincinnati he signed 3 local Cincinnati CB’s to their class who all have good upside & could be very good down the line especially a kid like Iesa Jarmon, but otherwise he’s not really known as a big time salesman, he’s more of a technical coach who did a good job with the pieces Nati already had when he got there. I don’t think he’d be a serious option for us, IMO he’s basically a package deal guy that you’d bring over with Marcus Freeman as DC if Freeman were even interested which I don’t think he would be mainly because he’ll be a HC candidate for a number of teams this offseason.

Van Malone - currently CB’s coach at K-State, is originally from Houston TX & played his college ball at Texas.

Long time experienced vet, started out coaching HS down in Texas, got hired at North Dakota St as WR’s coach & then got hired at Western Michigan as CB’s coachnder Gary Darnell. He then coached at North Texas briefly, but then went to TAMU for 3 years under Dennis Franchione & then Mike Sherman. He went to Tulsa for a season, then OK ST for 3 years under Mike Gundy, he then became DC for SMU during the Chad Morris era, he had a brief stint at Miss St with Joe Moorehead & has spent the last 2 years at K State on Chris Klieman’s staff.

He’s an old school OG CB’s coach, but during his tenure at TAMU was highly regarded as a very good recruiter, signing 5-star RB Christine Michael, as well as high 4-stars in OT Jake Matthews, DT Rod Davis & CB Toney Hurd Jr.. He’s spent the majority of his career recruiting the Texas/Louisiana areas & has a done a good job landing good H-Town talent.

In his last 2 classes, he’s signed Tee Denson from Cedar Grove GA (a kid we offered & recruited in the 2020 class) & Omar Daniels from Colquitt County in the 21 class.

Doug Belk - Currently AHC/ CO-DC & Safeties coach at Houston & is originally from Georgia. He started out coaching at Valdosta St for 3 years as a Special teams assistant & Safeties coach, he then got hired by Saban at Bama & was there for 3 seasons from 2014-16 as a Ga & Defensive Analyst under Pruitt & Kirby Smart, his job was to specifically coach alongside Saban (who exclusively coaches his DB’s) & was one of the coaches who helped develop Minkah Fitzpatrick, Marlon Humphrey & Eddie Jackson. He learned the ropes from his time at Bama & then got hired by Holgorsen at West VA & followed him to Houston. He’s more a DB recruiter than a pure CB’s coach, but he’s a well respected recruiter down in Texas, he signed 2021 CB/S speedster Mark Wilson from Clear Lake & is a guy that a lot of the local Houston area HS coaches really like.

Evan Cooper Jr - current CB’s coach for the Carolina Panthers, is originally from Miami & is the son of former Miami Killian coach/alum who played at Michigan, Evan Cooper Sr. Played his college ball at Temple & started out as a GA at Temple, he briefly came to Miami in 2015 as a GA as well, but quickly got hired by Matt Rhule back at Temple as a Director of Player Personnel. He then followed Rhule to Baylor as CB’s coach for 2 years & this year went with Rhule to the NFL to coach CB’s for the Panthers.

Doubt he would be interested in coming back to college having shown good upward trajectory as a NFL coach, but if I were Diaz I would still do my due diligence & at least give’em a call to gauge his interests.

Patrick Bastien - current CB’s coach at Marshall, is originally from Immokalee FL & played his college ball at UAB.
He started out as a GA at UCF & then got hired at Georgia Southern as OLB’s coach for 2 years, then got hired at UGA as a Director of player development & Defensive Analyst, then when on to get hired at Marshall as CB’s coach under Doc Holliday.

This year was his first year as CB’s coach, so he’s still a fairly inexperienced, he’s young guy having just graduated from UAB in 2013, so he’s definitely not the experienced vet we’d all like to see but this season at Marshall their Secondary played well & he coached up Steven Gilmore (Stephon’s lil brother) to being top 10 in PBU’s & did a good job with Jaylon McClain-Sapp a Jacksonville kid. He’s a young up & comer that has potential to be a very solid DB coach down the line, but I doubt we’d bring him in at this juncture, but with Marshall moving on from Doc Holliday he’s a name to keep tabs on over the next few years.

Jay Valai - current CB’s coach at Texas, is originally from just outside of Dallas in Euless TX & played his college ball at Wisconsin under Bielema. He started out as an Independent athletic trainer & private CB’s coach for 7 years (think of what Jordan Palmer does with QB’s except for CB’s), he started out coaching at UGA as a Quality Control/Defensive Analyst for 2 years then got hired by the Kansas City Chiefs as an assistant CB’s coach, then went to Rutgers for a year in 2018 under Chris Ash (replacing Aaron Henry mentioned above) & last year in January 2020 got hired by Tom Herman as UT’s CB’s coach.

In his first year at Texas, he’s landed four 4-star DB’s in Ishmael Ibraheem (from Dallas TX), Jamier Johnson (from Pasadena CA), Jahdae Barron (from Austin TX) & JD Coffey (from Kennedale TX, which is near Arlington & west of Dallas). He’ll probably be retained by Sark at UT but if he isn’t, he’s definitely a name to consider if we ever want to crack open a Texas DB pipeline.

Roy Manning - currently CB’s coach at Oklahoma, is originally from Michigan & played LB at Michigan. Had a 3 year career playing in the NFL & started out as a Defensive Analyst at Cincinnati, then was a GA in Michigan & got hired as RB’s coach at Cincinnati in 2012, then got hired as LB’s coach at Michigan under Brady Hoke, he then got moved CB’s in 2014, he also served as OLB’s coach for DC Alex Grinch at Wash St & was a LB’s coach at UCLA for a year before getting hired by Lincoln Riley at Oklahoma.

He’s not really a pure CB’s coach, most of his career he’s coached LB’s, but his primary job everywhere he’s been has been to be a top recruiter & at Oklahoma has signed three 4-star Corners in Latrell McCutchin (from Austin TX), Joshua Eaton (from Houston TX), Damond Harmon (from VA) & Kendall Dennis (from Lakeland FL). I don’t think he’d be a realistic choice, I really just mentioned him because he’s a very good recruiter, but i doubt he’d come here, nor do I think Diaz would be interested.

There’s many others, this was just a list names to mention as possibles. Whether or not we actually sign any of them who knows, but for those that have been asking, here you go.

He’s a guy that has been mentioned to me by several 7v7 coaches I’m friends with down in TX as someone who’s a well respected coach & at has good scouting ability being able to identify high upside corners & get them developed & prepared for the league.

Many people were skeptical about Hickson when he was first hired here because he had only coached at Akron & K-State before coming to Miami, but once he came back home to South FL with more resources behind him he became a recruiting dynamo on the trail because he came from previous stops where he had work really hard to sign recruits, I see a similar parallel with Coach Rowe.

Next he got hired at Southern Utah as D Coordinator for 2 years under Demario Warren, he then got hired by Cristobal at Oregon as a Defensive analyst in 2018, heels to Minnesota as CB’s coach for a year in 2019 on PJ Fleck’s staff, then Cristobal brought him back as the CB’s coach at Oregon last year.

He’s more a DB recruiter than re CB’s coach, but he’s a well respected recruiter down in Texas, he signed 2021 CB/S speedster Mark Wilson from Clear Lake & is a guy that a lot of the local Houston area HS coaches really like.

He started out as a GA at UCF & then got hired at Georgia Southern as OLB’s coach for 2 years, then got hired at UGA as a Director of player development & Defensive Analyst, then when on to get hired at Marshall as CB’s coachunder Doc Holliday.

He started out as an Independent athletic trainer & private CB’s coach for 7 years (think of what Jordan Palmer does with QB’s except for CB’s), he started out coaching at UGA as a Quality Control/Defensive Analyst for 2 years then got hired by the Kansas City Chiefs as an assistant CB’s coach, then went to Rutgers for a year in 2018 under Chris Ash (replacing Aaron Henry mentored above) & last year in January 2020 got hired by Tom Herman as UT’s CB’s coach.

Had a 3 year career playing in the NFL & started out as a Defensive Analyst at Cincinnati, then was a GA in Michigan & got hired as RB’s coach at Cincinnati in 2012, then got hired as LB’s coach at Michigan under Brady Hoke, he then got moved CB’s n 2014, he also served as OLB’s coach for DC Alex Grinch at Wash St & was a LB’s coach at UCLA for a year before getting hired by Lincoln Riley at Oklahoma.

Now back to regularly scheduled programming.

**** EL.

That’s a comprehensive list.

Great work.
