Corey Hetherman

Offenses have been able to script against his defenses but he is great at making the adjustments needed. We haven’t had a coach that can make adjustments on that side of the ball in a long time.
He's improved on this a ton too:

Last 5 games on 1st drive of each half we are giving up 1.3 pts/drive. First 7 games was 2.4 pts/drive.

Enjoy it while it lasts because he will be a HC soon or offered a DC role in the NFL.
Big difference in a college DC and an NFL DC. CFB HC is likely his only path out of Miami.

99% of the time an NFL DC climbs the ranks as a position coach. They may leave the NFL for their DC job in college and then bounce back (Golden, Minter, and Macdonald). But almost exclusively an NFL DC will have NFL experience. Hetherman doesn't have that.

Don't think there's a single DC in league that went straight from college to NFL with no prior NFL experience.

Clowns in here saying it’s just the players.

Please stop posting. It’s both.

But tell me why these players weren’t balling like they are this year at their schools they transferred in from. I’ll wait for another dumbass take.

They were. Poyser was Fr. AA. Blay #1 DT in the portal. TN fan was telling us how good Thomas was. Toure and Scott were all conference in 2023. Lucas is so good WI refused to submit the papers and sued us. Brown missed most of '24. Bain was not 100% last year. Add Fritz instead of Harris.

I love Hetherman and hope he stays forever but the same things were said about Guidry his 1st year too. The next year everyone wanted him and Taylor fired. Noone wants to fire Taylor anymore. It's 99% players 1% coaching. Guidry Steele Strong would all field a championship defense with these guys.

Given the choice of paying Hetherman or tampering w/ Stone and Stewart I'll pay the players.

Heatherman has a rare talent who squeezes the best out of his players and takes their game to the next level. This D is getting nastier as the season moves forward. Heatherman embodies old school Miami defense.

I think these same talented players with D'onofrio would not get these incredible results.
We know they wouldn’t. The Golden Years were littered with guys who play on Sundays.

It is always amazing how the greatest coaches always seem to have the top performing players.
This is an elite defense… you can be good with his jimmies and joes but he seems to be getting the best out of this unit which is a testament to knowing what he has and putting them in positions to succeed

Scott and Thomas have looked better than the kid who transferred from bama to OSU

he is awesome.

But to be fair look at the talent we added to that Defense:

Keonte Scott should have been a Thorpe finalist

Jacobe Thomas - first team all acc

Zach Poyser - freshman AA last year

X Lucas- big strong cover corner

Toure- experienced tackling machine

Blay- nice college DT

Plus the development of being a year older for Scott, Blount, Lightfoot, and the evolution of Moten who balled out all year.

This personnel is light years better than last year.
Plus a healthy Bain and Mesidor.

Bain, Mesidor, Wes, Moten, Chase smith, Damari Brown, Scott, who are all still on the team would laugh in your face.

We wanted Guidry fired because everyone figured out his defense and he never made in game adjustments.

Guess you like watching our players stunt rather than get after it.

And by that I mean you’re wrong in your assessment.

To be fair go look at the gophers defense this year
