Barber has locked in an official visit with Miami June 6 but will return to campus the weekend of March 29 for a spring practice.

“I like Miami,” Barber said. “I like the way they show love. I stay in touch with coach (Mario) Cristobal and coach (Kevin) Beard and their recruiters recruit hard. I just like what they’re building up there for sure. I definitely can’t wait to go down and see it in person.”

Barber said Cristobal and Mirabal are “real genuine guys for sure” and “you can tell they have love for the game.” He’s also had plenty of contact with the Hurricanes’ off-field recruiting staff like Joe Brown and Trip Carrico. Barber said the staff created a group chat with him they send things in constantly.

Barber doesn’t have a frontrunner yet, but he knows the Hurricanes are high for him along with Tennessee, Georgia and Alabama. Barber said all four schools have recruited him particularly well.
