Diaz was Temple’s 3rd choice as head coach. and no other FBS program had any interest in him.
I’ve always found the Diaz hiring to be more similar to Shannon’s hiring than Golden’s hiring. Diaz was a DC under a fired UM HC, had no prior head coach experience, and no other school considered him head coach material. I know people relate Diaz to Golden because of the Temple connection, but Golden had actually coached games at Temple and at least 2 other Power conference teams (UCLA and Tennessee) had interviewed him for their HC jobs.
