Off-Topic Cop Killing

They fired 90 shots at someone running away. Handcuffed him at hitting him 60 times. That was their initial reaction.
Actually there initial reaction (root cause) was determination of a threat.

Was it valid? Was it invalid? Time will tell.

What you describe above were actions after the initial.

You right. But that reaction led to them firing 90 shots at someone running away and handcuffing him after hitting him 60 times. Was that valid?

Has there been any confirmation that he was shooting from the car?

There’s been confirmation that he was unarmed when law enforcement fired 90 rounds, hitting him 60 times.
That I know. There's no justification for that. I'm just curious if they had any cause to be on a high level of alert.

I have other questions too.
Why wear a ski mask to drive?
Why run when you stopped?
Why shoot when you see others already have?

No possible answer will justify 90 rounds being fired, but I'm curious what could make people react the way they did.

Meanwhile, they take this pilgrim in alive...

Such a simple minded take to bring this down to color

So you believe, a gang of grown men with guns (and impunity to use said guns) show up to a scene where someone is shooting at them, they notice it’s a white guy and all decide on the fly and uniformly that they won’t kill this maniac that is trying to kill them because he is white.

None of the gang members know him or have any affiliation with him but because he is white (may not even be the same denomination of white) but he is white so they all silently acknowledge they won’t kill him.

That is what you believe happens everytime the police shows up to a crime scene?

Just want to clarify that is what you honestly believe

I’d imagine running is an instinct for survival by black men at this point. I’m white af, though, so can’t reasonably answer that question.

JD have you EVER actually been afraid for your life whenever you were stopped by the police??

Highly doubtful. Probably never even entered your thoughts. Not the same for minorities. Their lives are wrongly taken by police at ridiculous rates for doing the same things that you take for granted

Your reality is NOT the same reality for Americans of color. For you no danger... for them being killed by police continues to happen regularly

So how can someone who is not a minority judge how someone of color SHOULD ACT under any circumstances involving police, when reality has proven that under the same circumstances there is actual chance that the minority's life could actually be in danger for doing the very same thing you do without danger.

Your reality is not their reality. No matter how badly we wish it wasn't true. Anyone who thinks otherwise is delusional.

Did you see the part where I said it has no bearing? I'm not passing judgment, it's simply things I'm curious about.

Understood. No prob

Just pointing out that there's lots of things we'll never understand simply because we are incapable of actually putting ourselves into someone else's reality.

But we should always try...... even while being aware of the limits of our perspective

Coroner says Walker was shot 46 times. I’m no expert, but that seems like overkill. They had to be shooting into a dead body at that point

👆Thinking this is reality doesn't make it reality.

Are there problems, of course, but the root causes are far more complex and intertwined than "somebody got shot because of x skin color".

Not all circumstances are the same, but in most cases, if you shoot at a cop you’re probably gonna die. That’s reality.

Not that I’ve seen. Just their word and a Bigfoot style grainy video of a “flash”

I haven’t seen the video, nor have I kept up with the facts of the case, but I would imagine a weapon would have been found, one that could be tested for whether it had been fired or not, as well as the deceased having his hands tested to confirm his firing of it. I am not an expert on criminal forensics, but I believe it shouldn’t be too difficult to determine.
