If Mario is going to continue to handcuff his OC then 3 years, 13 years or 30 years isn't going to matter, so we are in a be careful what we wish for... and I agree with @htownkidd as the timing for a QB1 will be as important an issue as any this offseason.

Keep this guy. I think the defense will be better in the second year.

Cool with Dawson staying, but we need a mobile QB for this offense.
 
Put me in the camp of wanting to keep Dawson. He’s a good coordinator. Not elite but the numbers are the numbers. He took monster talent last year and put up the top offense. He has slightly less talent this year and we are top 30. We may never know the extent of Mario’s meddling but it seems to have lessened in recent weeks. Maybe they’ve struck a balance.

Heatherman I don’t even need to bring up.

I would really enjoy an off-season of continuity. Plus remember we’ve landed top portal arms with Dawson as our OC

3-4 weeks ago I thought it might be time to go our separate ways. But now I’m leaning towards Dawson having a bad month and is now coming out the other side. Is he elite? No. But I feel he is net positive, ESPECIALLY when it comes to getting us a portal qb in this upcoming portal session, of which there is only one window.

Provided we get someone with multiple years and/or Nickel or Dereon will be good to go in 27, next year might be better for us, if not for him.

And to the cats complaining that we aren’t in the offseason yet, the coaching carousel is already in full swing and this type of thing has a major IMPACT on recruiting and portal.

Beck had a bad month. He completely **** bed at end of louisville and smu or we wouldnt be here contemplating this firing.

Mario's not handcuffing anyone...he just hires oc's who are already running the type of Offenses he wants
 
Houston fans told us who Dawson was and we've been seeing tye exact same issues here with him. I still think we can go far with him as oc as long as he has elite talent but the truth is Mario's not recruiting as well as I would of thought when we hired Mario.

Same premise. If the conservative, coach not to lose mindset stays, replacing Dawson won’t matter. Especially at the risk of an elite QB1.

Whether a person agrees or not, he has a good reputation. Perception matters if we’re talking about attracting talent.

And as has been pointed out, he has put up good numbers.

All that plus the benefit of continuity seems to argue for keeping him, at least one more year.

Continuity is important. Dawson has shown some creativity of late and I think him coming back would be best for the team. Especially when we're going to have a new QB.

Also, an air-raid guy transforming into an air-outa-the-ball guy doesn't make sense.

I'm just sayin..

And Miami will continue to have Emory William type QBs at QB2 on your depth because Dawson can’t recruit evaluate or develop a HS
