You have to love the internet where people who know little about x’s and o’s think every coordinator sucks unless he has a reputation for being elite.

I thought Miami did some nice things on offense against ND.

I am hovering here as well.

3-4 weeks ago I thought it might be time to go our separate ways. But now I’m leaning towards Dawson having a bad month and is now coming out the other side. Is he elite? No. But I feel he is net positive, ESPECIALLY when it comes to getting us a portal qb in this upcoming portal session, of which there is only one window.

Provided we get someone with multiple years and/or Nickel or Dereon will be good to go in 27, next year might be better for us, if not for him.

And to the cats complaining that we aren’t in the offseason yet, the coaching carousel is already in full swing and this type of thing has a major IMPACT on recruiting and portal.

Hope Heatherman stays and they identify an elite DE, LB, and Nickel in the portal because he’s been an amazing teacher for these kids it seems.

Dawson I hope stays solely because Mario takes forever to hire and we need an elite portal QB immediately but this year other than his detailed press conferences I have been frustrated with this offense for most of the year.

Heatherman will stay. I don't see him becoming a HC next year. He looks to be enjoying playing with our talent

I'm good with Dawson staying. If we can run it back, I'd like an offseason that Mario is not looking for a new coordinator. I think we've only had one of those offseason's so far

Good point.
Though the portal window is January now. Final game is in next week or two. If he takes a HC job it will be after this week or conf chant week. So Mario would have almost a month to get the OC.

Agree with a lot of that. But unless that coordinator is the rare long time assistant guy, I want someone bringing in new ideas and energy every 3 years or so. Of course Mario will over complicate it and take a year to hire a guy who is a 5th choice. Plus I don’t think Mario changes his philosophy so it’s a moot point I guess.
