Coordinators Performance

Hey everyone, first time poster but longterm lurker of these fine forums.

I have a legitimate non-rhetorical question for the board as I'm curious what y'alls takes are on the performance of our coordinators thus far.

*I've edited this question after recieving feedback from the board, I get now how I framed the question a bit negative instead of keeping it open and neutral. I'm genuinely seeking insight on this, not looking for a predetermined outcome.

Looking at the GT loss first, ultimately the outcome falls on Mario, and I think we all agree on that. The execution on the players part was obviously off too which didn't help, but I'm curious how everyone feels about the overall game called from a schematic perspective from both coordinators.

Then if we put GT in with the first 4 games, how are these guys doing overall? Do you all think Guirdy and Dawson are the right guys for the job?

In my opinion, I like Dawson and Guidry from what I've seen thus far. I think Dawson had an off day, and Guidry was pretty solid overall with a play or two he'd like back (he said so himself).

That doesn't mean they are bad coordinators, just human.

Just wanted others thoughts / perspective.

Thanks,

In what world would anyone argue that our DC called a bad game? The defensive performance on Saturday night was excellent.

Statistically, the offense performed fairly well too, outside of 3 interceptions which I would put on TVD primarily. I do think Dawson called a poor game, mostly by getting too vanilla and conservative, but the game he called against aTm (a much better defense) was nothing short of exceptional.

Defense played lights out against a statistically very solid offense, up until the final play, which I think can be chalked up to them already being dialed out thinking the game was over.
The offense played it's worst game of the season, and still ended up with nearly 500 yards, moving the ball at will. Could some adjustments been made to be even better? Sure, but outside of 3 picks by TVD, the O looked pretty darn good.
I think we have two very solid coordinators.

Stats be damned. Top 10 offense and defense!

The coordinators SUCK!!!! 😂😅😅

Oy veh...some of you kill me.

I'm not really sure either of them called a bad game. We outplayed them on every statistical metric other than turnovers.

Turnovers kill.

Well that and bad refs and one of the biggest brain farts ever.

Move on. If they start ****ting the bed week after week, come back and ask me again.

Saturday night was a Muphy's Law game.

In just about every instance what could go wrong did go wrong. It was a miracle we were going to win. Most teams lose by three touchdowns when they have that many miscues and ****** calls go against them, yet we were still in position to win that game because of our coordinators not in spite of them.

GT had 175 total freaking yards before the last drive, it was a dominant defensive performance. Were it not for penalties and turnovers GT may not have scored a point. Same can be said about Miami's point total. We are probably looking at around 35 if not for bad turnovers and ****** penalties.

The fact it was a night of flukey bull**** should have made it easy for Mario to make the call to kneel it and gtfo but he didn't and the final flukey bull**** cost us the game.

I'm not one of the gloom and doom mopes on here who think the sun has set on the 2023 Miami Hurricanes but it no doubt was a bad decision. That being said, the decision itself was not historically bad. Many coaches have done the same **** and were lucky enough to avoid utter catastrophe. The national and Miami media love to hate on the Canes so they are going to roll around in this mess like pigs in ****. Miami media whores for clicks and national ******** in the hopes they can hinder our recruiting and also get clicks from all the people who want to revel in our misery.

Any given gameday you can catch that L. Any scenario that plays out Saturday night wouldn't shock me. We could come out and knock Maye into next week and route UNC or her could light us the **** up. I think the most likely scenario is we have a competitive back and forth game that we have an opportunity to win in the 4th quarter and I'd feel ok about that win or lose.

We can revisit this coordinators discussion if we get blasted on either side of the ball in the coming weeks. In truth, there's really nothing to discuss as long as we are holding explosive offenses under 35 (****** ones under 20) pts and gaining 450 yds plus while getting the 35 pts we should.
