Is this opinion My friend or do you know this because Blake’s already been out on notice that if manny fails, he’s fired? Please tell me you know this because Blake has been notified? I need hope!See this is where I think fans get this wrong, because of the way Manny was hired, Blake is on the hottest of hot seats
safe to say he's on notice if Manny bottoms out he's done tooIs this opinion My friend or do you know this because Blake’s already been out on notice that if manny fails, he’s fired? Please tell me you know this because Blake has been notified? I need hope!
Jumbo would be an absolute dream come true and would have us in the top of 5 of recruiting every year! That would be unbelievable to land him abd I truly believe if there is anyone out there that we can realistically get and would land us number 6 it’s him.
Well, I can tell you some people thought he was next after MR retired. I also know some people feel strongly had a national coaching search had been conducted like all major college programs do, at the time, given the programs issues and short comings, he would've been the best candidate. It’s funny that people around program just assume he’s the next coach. Then why not just get the guy already lol
mediocre basketball program, baseball and football. um use to be in college World Series and nc title games every year.Well, I can tell you some people thought he was next after MR retired. Blake James **** the bed and never conducted a national coaching search. Period. End of conversation.
Agree, firing Manny now hurts the program and sets us back further.end of day, firing Manny would set us back because it means he has a bad year. right now, if he runs the table, we get a great recruiting class. its a no win short term.
This begins to get fixed with an AD who cares about winning BIG. The school president and AD will fall in line. As has been stated at nauseam our AD is ok with being "good"mediocre basketball program, baseball and football. um use to be in college World Series and nc title games every year.
Much ado about nothing. My bad for being relatively negative, but the proverbial adage has been the writing on the Orange and Green colored wall for at least a decade, or so.I hate quoting Barry but he drops quite the bomb. The bot and admin simply don't care.
2) Find a special coach who can lead this program from Top 15-to-25 caliber to something far greater.
I view that as unlikely.
UM’s Board of Trustees isn’t motivated to spend $10 million a year for an elite coach with championship pedigree. And even if the Hurricanes could land, say, a Jimbo Fisher, there’s no assurance he could make the Canes elite again.
The sense here is that the administration will stick with Manny Diaz - who’s in year three of a five-year deal - if he wins in the range of nine games a year and keeps UM generally in the top 25, regardless of whether the gap is closed with Alabama or not.
As one Board of Trustee member said, though some members have higher standards than simply being a borderline Top 20 program, president Julio Frenk isn’t a big sports fan and there’s little motivation internally to keep changing coaches until they find one to build UM back to top-five-in-the-country status.
Perhaps that view changes once a coach reaches the end of his contract; if Diaz goesn’t get an extension after year 3 or 4, that would be telling.
The Hurricanes simply aren’t going to spend the money on an Urban Meyer-type unless there’s a dramatic change in philosophy.
Its over boys.
He heard we had a contingent of fans who would faithfully defend him til the end and money can’t buy that kind of dedication?Jimbo already makes $10 million a year and has unleashed resources. Why on earth would he come here?
I second your sagacious notion. But... too many Cane fans have just too much hate for Good Ole Boy Jimbo!! And that includes the longtime serious fans. In other words, they let their emotions CLOUD any degree of rational, logic they have in their LARGE BRAINS!!! huh? Even Urban Myers is on the PERSON NON GRATA list of the majority of Cane fans. Talk about letting one's emotions run roughshod over one's logic and sound reasoning and all that. Heck, IF Miami had the BIG BUCKS to hire one of the latter HC's. I'd welcome either one of those PROVEN HC's!!! But then again, I'm just the lone Cane mumbling into the Gulfstream breeze. Peace.Jumbo would be an absolute dream come true and would have us in the top of 5 of recruiting every year! That would be unbelievable to land him abd I truly believe if there is anyone out there that we can realistically get and would land us number 6 it’s him.
Because he hasn't broken 10 wins in 3 years at a school that expects results for that kind of money. He's 17-6 the last two years and Manny is 14-10. Is the extra 3 wins worth $6 million a year?Jimbo already makes $10 million a year and has Unlimited resources. Why on earth would he come here?
Michigan St. will be the litmus test. Then there's mighty Carolina Blue, Va. Tech, Pitt., and NCST. Even FSU on the road will be a DIFFICULT game. Especially after that impressive performance the other night. And with a SKINNY *** inexperienced quarterback!! Now that's rich.the next 11 games will tell us more about Manny than the bama game
There’s literally 5 teams that will do this….literally
I’m shocked ur shocked.
So, the mouthbreathers in our fanbase, who are some of the cheapest fans in college athletics are shocked that people IQs above 70 aren't interested in ****ing money down the drain, knowing full well that it isn't there, to try to compete with schools that produce 2-3x the revenue. Color me shocked.
I'm going to say this, Miami is in a tough spot. Even if Miami hits on a coach(which isn't likely with Blake James, he's incompetent), Miami's ceiling is limited because the NCAA has made it borderline impossible for teams to compete with Bama, Clemson, Ohio State etc. What can Miami football be? Basically, Miami can be Notre Dame. Notre Dame isn't winning a title anytime soon, but they are a solid 9-10 win per year team that can sneak into the playoff, so Bama can jailhouse them. That's the ceiling, barring some crazy miracle.
That said, Miami does a **** poor job of maximizing the funds that are coming in. Miami could have had Willie Fritz, Miami could have had Bill Clark, but Blake James chose Manny without even calling qualified candidates. That's what annoys me. The BOT allowed it to happen, because a lot of the athletically inclined members aren't doing their job. It's not Dr. Frenk's job, he's the University President, it's on the guys and girls of the BOT that allegedly care about athletics to oversee Blake, and hold him accountable.
AbsolutelyAnd kill the recruiting we have. Great idea
As soon as y’all get it through your minds that this program is among the Syracuse’s and Louisville’s of the world you’ll be fine. We’re not going to compete for titles. The coastal and maybe a fairy tale ACC championship is our lid.
Syracuse needs fans too
I'm not a big fan of throwing my toys out of the pram.I bet you're a big fan of participation trophies
