On the off chance LSU does get kicked out wouldn't we be the hottest team on the market to add? Granted I don't know what our legal binding looks like so I'm very uninformed here.

Are the Canes sitting on 2 invites? One from the B1G and the other from the $EC. Hard for the Canes to turn one down if only one invite is offered. Impossible if none are given.

My 2 cents says yeah, but in reality I think Sankey's and Pettiti's objectives are more aligned with one another than maybe a lot of us realize.

In other words, Sankey will extend the SEC's footprint and lock down "The South" from a P2 perspective, but the SEC commisioner is not going to veer away from having a non-contiguous footprint like we see with the Big Ten and its West Coast schools.

Mario has this thing rolling right now and Miami has a lot of media value, which would be even more the case in an SEC loaded with big football brands. No reason for Sankey or ESPN to let the Canes get away and have the Big Ten plant its flag in the state of Florida

I'm not sure either of the P2 has a definitive "plan". I mean if they both think Miami is a lock to bring more $$$, why not make the announcement now that Miami will be joining them in 2028, 2029, 2030 or whenever Miami tells them the exit fee is low enough to move out?

1. Sankey and/or Pettiti have other fish to fry right now between rules fiascos with member schools, trying to get the PCSA act modifed and passed by both the Senate and House and squeezing ESPN and potentially other media partners for more money so the CFP can be expanded to 24 teams.

2. Look at the power conference realignment announcements this decade: July 2021 - OU/Texas confirm they were leaving for the SEC. June 2022 - News gets out that USC and UCLA are going to the B1G. July 2023 - Word leaks that Colorado is headed to the Big XII. August 2023: News confirmed that UW and Oregon are going to the B1G, while Arizona, Arizona State and Utah are joining the Big XII. It's no coincidence that all these items happened when college sports was hiatus in the summer and not when football or even basketball were on going. Makes no sense to have realignment commotion overshadow the season itself.

It could have been done in the offseason, but it wasn't. If the $EC wants to keep the B1G out of Florida, they certainly are dragging their feet on it and if the B1G wants into Florida, they are dragging their feet as well.

True, but it does make sense that Sankey and Pettiti want to get federal legislation passed and the CFP format set before moving on to realigment.

I think if the PCSA passes this fall then we'll see the ACC unraveling begin next May.

Hard to see what Sankey's endgame is here.

Academics are not carnivores, they are herbivores. Unlikely they touch this vote with a ten foot pole.

Even if they have some charade of a "vote", will very likely include 1,000 off ramps for everyone to save face.

We'll see tomorrow.

SEC is not going to let the B1G get into Florida without a fight. B1G already has a big enough lead on the SEC as a football conference. Will not be surprised if the SEC and ESPN sweeten the deal to get Miami.
