I know it’s unpopular given that so many UM fans want us to join the P2, but there is also a solution where Miami and the handful of the biggest tv market ACC teams take control of the ACC and stop letting the terms be dictated by useless programs that do nothing but suck up money. There is a core group of ACC teams that both espn and fox sports would compensate handsomely for the rights to broadcast. We don’t have to keep hoping the P2 offers us half shares for the honor of getting screwed by their referees. We can get screwed by our own referees, thank you very much.

There's a very narrow path to that solution and it's filled with pitfalls and traps.

Since the "notify date" is June 1 for advising that a school plans to leave, and that date has already passed, if Miami notified they were leaving, the effective date for leaving would be June 1, 2028. Main issue ... is getting ALL contracts signed prior to the new law being executed and going into effect by the president.

SEC and B1G could always separate from the NCAA for Football only. In fact idk why the ideal ideal outcome is literally just Football moving away and every other sport going back to a more regionalized setup.

But If if if if the SEC and Big 10 are now pivoting again and truly negotiating with Congress to agree to this in order to get the rest of the protect college sports act done then everything once again changes despite other things being true very recently, Miami and others will forever be stuck tens of millions behind the other conferences in the ACC and we will have to pray for billionaires to close the gap forever.

Big Ten would still have room to maybe get Notre Dame and the SEC could poach three ACC brands of their choosing

IF the "independent" length is the same as the length from now until the next B1G (or SEC) media negotiation, this isn't some horrible setup. In fact the more teams that do it the less impactful it is. The hard part is creating a fully independent schedule. But like for us if ND, FSU, Clemson, UNC, VTech, TTU, Louisville , etc etc all do it, well you have enough independents and enough to make a quote compelling schedule tbh. You just create a scheduling agreement between all independents but allow them to make their own media deals...

But honestly if they are capped at 19 imo Miami is the final spot for B1G. ND is signed to their independent NBC contract until B1Gs media deal ends. And ND can always move to a scheduling agreement with B1G instead. ND is under zero rush to fully enter B1G.

Question is what would SEC do. Just go for UNC as their top? Personally I think FSU should be but whatever.... And the thing Is I think UNC would be perfectly fine sticking Round ACC until the bitter end in 2030 anyways...

And while this law would make it moving from P4 to P4... What happens if the ACC is just dissolved? I'd bet they wouldn't need 5yrs of independent. Especially if there is already a carve out from G5 to p4....

Honestly, if we could do the impossible and get ND to commit to ACC football, AND we could get close to the Big 2 in money (even if we weren't 100% even) that would be enough for me. Especially if Franklin turns VT into.a power again, which really could happen.

good. get the **** out. watch your entire conference collapse bc you need the rest of CFB to be relevant. youre not going to get people tuning in to watch weekly SEC games all day long

19 seems like an odd number to cap it at (no pun intended). That's how you end up with crazy tiebreakers like the ACC has this year.

So hypothetically say the 4-6 "independents" that are all AAU members (adding Duke, Stanford, Calgorithm) collectively negotiate with say the Big 10 during that time period?
 
Independence is a nonstarter for 99.9% of institutions especially who want to compete at the highest levels. Even ND is struggling to keep up. Espn and fox aren't going to do 10 independent deals at lucrative value as a favor for these schools. That clause will not pass in its current form. It would make expansion financially impossible for anyone not ND. And thats not even considering the scheduling and political ramifications.
