that is a world that you still make 40 million less plus than big 10 is going to get.... with notre dame. every school on that list draws less eyes than miami/clemson/fsu on avg except colorado and they are on their way back down to reality, so you still year after year are at a financial disadvantage with those you are trying to compete for national titles with.
The schedule would be better for sure but the big problem on needing boosters to cover that gap PLUS still suport the other parts of the program will continue to escalate over time. And if Notre Dame not along for the ride, it would be even worse.
An only slightly better version than that is an ACC 9 only with the uneven revenue- per team would net out better even if that sounds crazy. Based off of TV ratings, audience draw for all of those teams.

I rewatched the Miami/Ohio State game last week and they absolutely let both teams play. One of the fairest officiated game I’ve watched, but I guess those weren’t B10 refs lol I’m guessing B12?
Agreed on the Ole Miss game being **** officiating. I know we all hate targeting but what makes me the most angry is when they don’t call it on the field, then decide to look at it afterwards. I’m sorry but if a hit doesn’t cause the following:
- An actual flag from a ref who saw it.
- The crowd saying “oooo” in a “wow that looked painful” kind of way.
- A player who actually looks like he took a big hit and struggles to get up
It’s not a penalty. I don’t know why this is part of the targeting rule of refs claim they make calls based on what happens in REAL time, not slow motion. None of those three things mentioned above happened with the Lucas hit.
But you know what hit did? The dirty hit on Toney in the beginning of the game. THAT is what, assuming we have to targeting rule for player safety, is the hit you want to remove from the game. Why they reversed that targeting call was baffling to me.

Ol' boy has come a long way from his humble beginnings as a guy trying to make his way as a start-up college football podcaster.
Several years and few hundred shows later and he's more capable of determining the value of a multi-million dollar agreement he hasn't seen than the presidents, AD's and numbers crunchers at the universities who studied the offer and signed off on it

If we see pushback (even off the record) from multiple ADs who suggest they were strong-armed into the deal by Yormark and/or their presidents, then no -- Pate and others who criticize it wouldn't be wrong.
But even if it means waiting a bit, I'd rather hear from someone who A) is familar with all details of the contract and B) knows what fair-market value would be for such an agreement
if what Pate is reporting is anywhere close to true, then B12 got absolutely fleeced.... of course we don't know but Pate would be foolish to report that if he didn't have fairly high confidence the numbers are fairly accurate.. I don't need any fair-market value to know that.
keep in mind, this deal also INCLUDES men's and women's basketball...

Why would Big XII administators — not one, but likely from most if not all of the Big XII's 16 schools — sign off on a deal that would cause a podcaster with 290k followers to fire his staff were they to agree to such a thing?

A “licensing deal” for both football and basketball that brings a program a tad more than $1 million per year? Not even enough to cover the NiL for a QB.
I have no idea.
Desperation? Typically I'd agree to trust the professionals but on the surface it's baffling. The only good explanation is the situation is dire behind closed doors.
Pate isn't the only person being critical of the deal either.
What do you think? Even if that's market value it seems baffling. If the conference is in a good place you just walk away rather than give all that for just $1mil per year per school. That seems really low

I mean I feel like even $3-5M/school would be cheap for all that. **** having to call it the stupid Monster Energy B12 football season is worth like $5M/school, just based on how dumb it makes your league sound

Nothing against Josh Pate or other early critics of this deal, but I would like to hear from people who saw the numbers and chose to sign the contract.
We've kind of fallen into "ready, fire, aim" mode in society where hot takes get a lot of attention, but it'd be nice to know what the numbers say on this particular deal and why Big XII schools decided to move forward

What other numbers are needed? $20m per year so $1.25m per school to put Monster Energy patches on jerseys on all football and basketball teams and call the conference the Monster Energy Big XII. I'm sure each team gets as much Monster Energy drinks as they want though. If they drink enough, it could be worth it.
Arkansas just signed a naming rights deal for its stadium in the amount of $5m per season on its own. Hard to see how this is anything other than a desperate tactic that frankly is embarrassing to the entire sport. But, until they officially decide we're going to a 40 team or so superconference or my preference, the P4 work together as a whole, this is the kind of bs we're going to see. I wonder what the ACC has in the works?

On the surface for what's been shared so far, it definitely looks like a bad deal and I think the social media world is right to shame it for what it is right now. I don't think it's really a hot take to suggest, based on what's been publicly shared, that what the B12 giving up for $1.25m per school per year is ridiculous.
There is *some* market value deals out there already and this B12 deal doesn't look good compared to them.
