MEGA Conference Realignment and lawsuits Megathread: Stories, Tales, Lies, and Exaggerations

You gotta stop with this ****y bull****.

First, he was complaining about your nonstop Nike-adidas taunting bull****, which already has a thread devoted to it.

Second, just like with the Nike-adidas information, you treat conference realignment as if it is imminent, without bothering to look at all of the developments that have occurred since the thread first started. Instead, you just keep poking and poking and poking as if the people who have information actually owe you something.

Anyone with eyes and a brain can observe that those of us who spoke about realignment details over the past couple of years have slowed down for now, as the "NCAA begs Congress for legislation" and "President promises Executive Order within 1 week, fails to deliver" details prolong the obvious outcome. Just because external events have pushed back the predicted timeline doesn't give you a license to come in here shaking your *** in some sort of fake victory dance.

The reality is the same as it has ever been. Those with no information choose to taunt those with information when there is not an immediate payoff. There's no need for you to maintain this schtick, but I'm doubtful that you will listen to good advice.

Many words to say that Miami to a new conference was never a done deal and is still not a done deal. Glad that’s finally been settled.

Back to Texas and Nike and NIL. It’ll be interesting to see if these investments at UT and other Nike and JB schools translate on the field and hardwood. Miami losing athletes due to being an Adidas school is not an ideal situation.

It's a done deal. Now shut up.

Adidas has invested millions in NIL too.

Yes. But they are at least a step behind. I don't hate Adidas. I do dislike that we have lost athletes due to being an Adidas school and a once strong lean toward returning to Nike (or JB) has now reportedly shifted to a strong likelihood to reup with the 3 Stripe (and the reasons behind it).

That deal will be done when it is done -- in the meantime all we have are reports from other schools under both apparel organizations.

Awkward Oh Jeez GIF

“I’m embarrassed that y’all ain’t embarrassed”
The mumble rap of commitment videos.

And I don't even know what mumble rap is.

You're right- I will believe it when I see it. UNC averaged just over 50,000 per home game last season- which would put them above only Vandy in the SEC. I think they go after Clemson and Miami first- maybe FSU is in that mix as well. If they were to land those three, I could see them grabbing UNC to round it all off. I don't think the SEC cares about UVA in any capacity- and I don't think they care about creating a conference map like the BIG has. I just hope Miami lands in the SEC.
I suspect UNC is #1 on both SEC + B1G shopping lists (for same and different reasons).

I also suspect NC State complicates the take.

For those in the know....

are schools really losing players because of Addidas vs Nike vs UA?

Yes; I’ve gave warning of this a while ago. Adidas NIL players r allowed to play at w/e branded schools they may choose. The same can be said for the limited amount of UA NIL Athletes. Nike? Jordan Brand? Not so much; those kids r strictly going to Nike or Jordan Branded schools. There’s no Nike NIL kid going to an Adidas, UA, or NB school. It’s part of the conditions.

Hence when this board gets in to a frenzy over this player or that player visiting either as a HS or Portal recruit w/ a Nike/JB NIL, I’m killing false hopes to spare the agony. So lately Nike has been furthering its relationships w its upper schools. LSU, UT, O$U, & Bama have been the direct benefactors of this w more to come.

Total side note; I’m also noticing Adidas is falling back into the Kanye West trap, meaning focusing more on lifestyle branding v. sports. Meanwhile, Nike has made a concerted effort to re-identify its DNA in sports while easing up on life style branding.
