MEGA Conference Realignment and lawsuits Megathread: Stories, Tales, Lies, and Exaggerations

Soooooo....

I wonder where UM and Radakovich stand regarding joining one of the P2's....

My take is - as long as we make money relative to what the P2 teams earn, I don't care that much, but I do hate the ACC as a self-hating, self-defeating organization. Get rid of Phillips, make ND either go all in including football, and have the successful teams become financially competitive with the big boys, and I'm good with the ACC.

I don't think ND gets what's happening to them right now, so I doubt they join. If the B12 can make it make sense, I'm OK with that too.

Just curious if our insiders are hearing anything new regarding Miami and the conference we will be in long term, in light of our CFP run...?
The media deal in 2029 is a $30-$40 million gap from the Big Ten to the ACC on the low end. Even with the success initiative, you’d have to get to this stage of the playoffs to come close to matching it.

It’s almost inevitable

Interesting story. Campbell makes a lot of solid points. I definitely agree college sports need to be managed as a collective group much like the NFL and other professional sports leagues. Easier said than done. There’s 130 or so division one college football teams and Lord knows how many division one college basketball, baseball, etc.. plus all the lower divisions in all sports.

I hope interested parties like him and others are able to come up with ideas to fix and manage the problems before anyone convinces Congress to step in with legislation. Would be the worst thing that could happen. Best thing for Congress to do would be to create avenues and incentives for college sports to fix themselves.
I have the same hopes that you do, but sadly, I don't think the powers that be in the NCAA are smart enough to listen to him and others like him.

I think something will have to smack the commissioners in the face to change the path they are each on. One of which would be lackluster TV renewal dollars when the TV contracts are set to expire. I have read the B1G TV partners aren't exactly pleased with the TV ratings over the past couple of years.

If the money keeps flowing without any issues, I think they will continue to look out for their schools only.

This is where it can be managed with a Premiere League of 60 schools .. too many bottom feeders who latch on just to feed off schools that actually invest in football. .. like BC and Syracuse

Good explanation on why the Big will expand first. BLUF: Big needs more big matches to compete with the SEC. MIA and ND would become 3 & 4 instantly in BIG weekly tv numbers.

EDIT: He had us at 3.07 mil weekly

Are Miami and ND going to join at partial shares?

How does ND depart its NBC commitment?

2026 ACC departure window is closed, best Canes could do would be 2027 at this point.

If b1g tries to make us join with partial shares I’d talk to Yormark. We would be treated like royalty in the Big12 and I respect Yormark over any of the other commissioners.

I like Yormark, too.

But no school is choosing the Big XII over the B1G or SEC because it prefers the commissioner.

If either/both of the two premier conferences want Miami, then the Big XII is SOL when it comes to adding Miami

Yes but if you took the best from the ACC and best of B12 and made a single conference (kicking out All the bottom feeders for a 16 team conference), you would have a legit P3. That conference would beat up the SEC.

Don't think we'll get to that point because I think the ACC's best brands will have landing spots in the SEC and B1G, thus putting a kibosh in the Big XII adding enough brand power to be in the same ballpark as the two richest conferences. Again, jmo

The TV media deals for the Big Ten and big 12 are like $50 million apart by 2030 and Miami and Notre Dame & Florida State alone wood not bridge that gap
