MEGA Conference Realignment and lawsuits Megathread: Stories, Tales, Lies, and Exaggerations

I just realized that aside from the BC game (which was on ESPN+), and the USF game (which was on CW), all of our games have been on ABC/ESPN.

We haven’t been on the ACC Network one single game this year. And the VT game is scheduled for ESPN too, so Pitt is the only one left. That’s great.

Also, is anyone else surprised at how much Clemson’s ratings have fallen? I expected a drop, but that’s a HUGE drop.

Everyone gives us so much crap for our “bad” years, but our ratings were still always at the top of the conference.

Thanks for the info.

I was kind of shocked to see FSU was only 800k fewer in viewership than the Canes, but then I realized since this is only over the past 8 weeks it does not include the ND or Florida games. I wonder what the difference is for the whole season.

Also, FSU and Louisville both benefited from playing the Canes over the past 8 weeks as well.

ND @ MIA - 10,800,000

FL @ MIA - 6,460,000

Edit: Bama @ FSU - 10,400,000
(I’m too tired bc it’s late but feel free to do the math. There aren’t any more available metrics for the other weeks.)

This is my favorite person to follow for media viewership metrics. The flaw unfortunately is that Nielsen still doesn’t include ACC Network, but I subscribe to this guy and get the metrics in my email each week.

He does these for lots of other sports too, if you’re interested in other stuff.

Highway accident rubber necking ... FSU

So we got a libtard senator from Washington wanting more tax dollars
Who is she to say contracts are excessive?
She can *** off
As far as I’m concerned
I know you have to be this way because you can’t just talk about the subject without your politics interjecting everything in life, but when it’s a state funding institution, yeah they have some degree of a conversation of contracts. Different than a Miami situation. I don’t agree with her and don’t have to inject more divisiveness into everything always in this country but since you went there

Let’s go to your warrior deep thinker Tommy Tuberville for some antilibtard brilliant analysis Senatorial level on this matter. I am sure he will save college sports.

It's made Christmas shopping more of a chore.

So, we make more than the other teams with the media revenue sharing since we're at the top, right?

Also, Clemson suing and stamping its foot to get out of the ACC seems hilarious at this point. Now, Clemp'sson and the Noles are delighted to be in the ACC. You think the SEC or the B10 would take them right now? Neither is in a major media market and with each passing year of underperformance, their brands become less valuable.

Clemson could actually rebound since they are not having to buy out Dabo and start from scratch and I think Dabo is a good coach who got into a bubble and was only listening to yes men. The Noles are damaged goods and for the foreseeable future. They CAN'T get rid of Corn Rows for at least a year.

Despite horrible game day coaching, Mario is doing a good job for us. Even if he can't get over a hump and has to be replaced in a couple of years, our brand has been repaired quite a bit and things are getting set right. Now, he just needs to hand over game day coaching to someone smart and collect his flowers.

Potentially. The new ACC revenue-sharing benefit is calculated over the previous five years. The top three teams split a weighted 60% (the viewership share), and the remaining teams all equally split the remaining 40%. The metrics are calculated from both football (75%) and men’s basketball (25%) games.

But thats why I brought up the ACC Network point last night. I have been frustrated for years that the ACC has not pushed for recorded Nielsen metrics for the ACC Network, particularly now that we have unequal revenue sharing. Obviously, there also has no way of calculating previous ACC Network games. They are opening themselves up to further liability as well, but just add it to the list.

Re: Clemson & FSU, I don’t necessarily see them in the same positions. The lawsuits served their purposes regardless and were successful.

FSU I think, given their financial situation, could be down for some time, especially since they can’t offload their coach right now. That is impacting recruiting. But their ratings are still excellent.

Clemson could just be having a fluke year, and I could see them being fine as a team. But it’s interesting how their ratings are only good when they are good. Judging by the ratings, they appear to just be another random ACC team with zero CFB history.

All three teams, FSU, Clemson, and Miami, have pro and cons. Both conferences have pros and cons. They may not even be expanding right now.

So when you ask me if the conferences would take any of these teams, all I can say is the bull**** lawyer answer “it depends.” 🤣

For clarification, the top three teams do not split the 60%. The 60% is weighted so if you’re the last place team, you get some of that but the top ones get a disproportionate amount. Everyone gets an equal share in the 40%. Everyone is in the 60% pool, but does not get an equal share.

Yes. I did say it was weighted, but your explanation is definitely better!
