Not sure what the answer here is, but as long as the bowls keep getting the TV ratings they are getting, they are going to keep trying to have them.
A CBA & multi-year contracts directly with the school that don't allow you to play elsewhere until you've fulfilled your contractual obligation

Seems inevitable that the federal government will have to step in at some point and establish some rules. Schools will have to agree or risk losing federal grant money. I know people have strong feelings about government getting involved in things but college football is an out of control locomotive heading for a cliff. Private equity and billionaires taking over is what awaits at the bottom. College football is Americas greatest sport due to traditions and historical rivalries. Letting it turn into some demented mini nfl with Wild West rules is horrifying.
