I mean, he might wind up being right but in terms of him actually having sources I guess I’m gonna be skeptical of the South Florida Bulls guy being completely tied into what’s going on with the big 10 Notre Dame and Miami or FSU
To be clear, I think we all assumed he was talking about Miami, but he did say "a team in Florida." He wouldn't have the nerve to say it's USF, would he?

@TheOriginalCane has been saying that a long time

I feel like there are two primary routes for Big 10 expansion.

If the Big 10 goes "big" right now (4 teams), but Notre Dame is not yet ready, then USF will be a good partner for ND down the road. ND is such a big target that almost anyone could pair with them, but with USF (IN A FEW YEARS), they will have an on-campus stadium, some more years to build recruiting and coaching, and they will always have a huge population of midwest-area (read: Big 10) retirees and relocaters.

If Notre Dame IS ready, then the situation gets interesting. The addition of ND "sooner" could be the magnet that sways some ACC teams that might have a "choice" between the Big 10 and SEC, such as UNC, UVa, and maybe even GaTech.

Everything comes down to vision. If the CFP expands the field, then "huge conferences" become about how you feature everyone on TV and streaming, how you build community even with a big/crowded footprint, and how the conference can be both big (football) and small (Olympic sports) at the same time, because it can be expensive to travel for non-revenue sports.

Imagine this board if USF goes to B1G before Canes go anywhere
It’s true, but like I said above I don’t think it means death to the Big 10 for us. I just think the Big 10 sees USF as a program they could get on the cheap now, and it would be a good investment. But they could still want us in 29-30 like we’ve always discussed.
