I get it but it completely changes their ethos which centers around being a group of academic research institutions which neither FSU or Clemson qualify as. They gain money and football prestige while lowering their academic prestige significantly.

So the Big 10 is ready to put academics and research aside now to accept Clemson and FSU football? That seems a bit hard to believe that the presidents of the Big 10 will value football over losing some academic prestige.
Nebraska is ranked #151 in National Universities, Iowa #83, and Penn State #77, tied with Clemson.

What he is saying that once those 4 announce it is "ova" for the conference. Either ESPN says "no mas" or the remaining schools vote to dissolve, but either way, without those 4 programs, the EXISTING ESPN deal doesn't work for ESPN or the schools remaining.
I was just being passive aggressive towards those who thought it was impossible.

None of that matters.

Are those US News school rankings? They may be ranked as such but still be strong research institutions.
Yes but the idea that FSU isn't a B10 take because of "academics" isn't valid, and Clemson is also ranked much higher than some B10 programs and while not AAU accredited, is working to INCREASE research investments ... supposedly the most recent fiscal year budget is $300 million, a huge increase.

Regardless of "actual truth" (still to be established), this explains how the FSU-Clemson-North Carolina stuff started up.

Beware of agendas. That's how a lot of these fake rumors are created.

Zero chance UNC would want to be at the front of the line to kill the ACC. Do they secretly want to? Sure. Do they want the public backlash within their own state that comes with it? Absolutely not.

The ACC is their conference, they'll leave if everything falls apart but they are not going to be a part of the first wave. If FSU/Clemson/Miami leave they have the most to gain as the top of the conference in football, and the co-kings of the basketball conference still with all their Tobacco Road influence.
