Conference Championship Saturday

Love the SOS shown for JMU/Tulane LMAO brother Tulane lost to Ole Miss by 30, and they aren’t even world beaters as we handled Florida better than they did.

I think the committee will try aggressively to get Bama and ND in. But, Bama wins, and BYU loses, they may have to concede the ND scalp to appease the national media pressure campaign. The business and corporate people want ND, but the national media, writers, and talking heads who know ball way more than the corporate suits, agree head to head must matter.

Agreed! I'm not sure how anyone would believe BYU should be ranked ahead of []__[] after what they've done today. They should be somewhere behind Texas & Vandy.

What happens with putting us at 18 is we have so far to climb, while teams with good coaching like BYU & ND feast on weak schedules. So re-ranking the teams tomorrow is meant to clean up erroneous assessments that remain after the penultimate ranking.

Should be the 12 best teams.

That’s a possibility which is why our chances are lower than ND’s. But if it’s a close game and UGA wins the committee could say Bama beat UGA previously and it was a close loss so we didn’t think it was right to drop them.

ND needs to pray for a UGA blowout that would force the committee to drop them one (they’ll never kick Bama out of the playoffs completely which is why the committee bumped them up) which wouldn’t trigger the H2H with us and ND.

this is the only sliver of hope we have. seems pretty clear that the committee in their infinite wisdom believe ND is better despite the H2H loss. will the pressure of national media and precedent be enough? i'm not confident
 
Committee not gonna care about blowback if the keep ND ahead of us. The playoff will expand and they will just point out that the ACC should have put the highest ranked team in the championship game as a tiebreaker (which they should have)

It could help us by forcing the committee to put us in so there will be an ACC representative in the playoffs.

The one advantage for being in a conference and having a tv deal with the network that’s connected to the committee.
 
I’m getting soft shoulders again. I’d almost rather see BYU win and send us and Notre Dame home and end all this nonsense. Watching BYU lose and creating some kind of hope just to get the rug pulled out tomorrow is almost worse.

We would whip either of these teams. Our d would overwhelm that QB.

this is absolutely going to happen.

either they will keep BYU in between ND and Miami

or just go with ND.

no way they flip us two spots unless this turns into a rout

This is possible. That said, is it worth the fallout? There is national interest in Miami being rank ahead of ND and the optics of not correcting that damages their brand.

It “shouldn’t” matter if Bama drops between us and ND… we can and still should flip spots with them… step 1) BYU out after this game… 2) We are adjacent to ND so the flip happens… 3) Bama loses this evening and drops a spot

guess again!!

there is literally NOTHING stopping the committee from simply ranking a 8-5 Duke team ahead of James Madison and giving them the final conference champ spot.

bet on it happening.
