Why do we want Bama to win?

Because if they lose the committee will simply drop them by one spot and there will be space between us and ND. They moved them ahead of ND simply as a preemptive move to protect Bama and then second ND over Miami.

That's some calculus that needs to be explained by them. How can a 3 lose team who has a terrible lose just be allowed to not be penalized for losing more than other teams?
