Will BOT make an attempt at her for next Prez ?

Just read espn article on her being a possibility to replace Slive as SEC Commissioner

If we don't try, mark this as another failure. I don't even care if no deal can be made.
But we gotta TRY

SEC isn't stupid.... getting a female commish and someone on the committee

2 birds 1 stone

Unlikely due to Shalala being a democrat and well you know Rice's positions

Educate us, since you seem to know a lot about this? By this, I mean the process in hiring a new President especially how it relates to their poltical leanings.

Shalala is basically choosing her successor -- why would she turn it over to a rival opponent. Did yall forget Donna was in politics prior to becoming pres

For sure! They will pick a conservative, now that the U, in it's entirety, is a foaming at the mouth bastion of radical leftism.

I can see this!

Why don't you tell us about nuclear physics. I'm sure you even know more about that.

She has influence but why people think the bot will let her choose the way people here seem to think is beyond me

From what I understand, Shalala was recruited to UM initially by a Republican on the Board of Trustees, Chuck Cobb. I met him at a UM-Georgetown basketball game when he was living in Washington. He had received a political appointment by George H.W. Bush.

You make too much of politics. It should not be a factor in finding the best possible person. I, incidentally, do not favor Rice. I don't think she was so great in the Bush administration. I don't want to get into politics, but I think she made some very bad decisions--and no, it has nothing to do with Iraq and Afghanistan, and as far as the crack about WMD in Iraq--there were definitely WMD's, just maybe not nukes. There were apparently stockpiles of poison gas; it had been used on the Kurds. You can debate whether there were the ingredients of a nuclear program that were transferred to Syria before Gulf War II. There were reports of such transfers, but I don't know if they were credible.

Here's an old DOD story on the mustard gas that was located. Whether the intelligence report was ever declassified, I don't know:

Sorry for getting off topic, but somebody else did first and I felt like responding.

Keep in mind that she has a very substantial background in higher education. She is or was provost or some such position at Stanford. She has a very substantial background in both higher education and public service. They found that combination very attractive in hiring Donna and they could find it attractive in Condi.

Despite all the criticisms about Donna's alleged de-emphasis of football she has probably been very good for the university trying to strengthen research and academics yet at the same time trying to stay competitive in football.

By the way, I'm not an alum--have been a UM football fan since the mid 1950's. Like they used to say about Oklahoma--the U should try to be a university that the football team can be proud of.
