Common sense and championship Defense

I honestly don't know what the answer is anymore. Todd Graham and Gary Patterson are defensive guru's and their defenses are getting ripped on the regular these days. Maybe "bend/don't break" is the way of the future. It isn't my perferred style but I'm not sure you can point at a defense in college right now as the "blue print". I'm not even sure there is a defensive philosphy that is allowed to be proactive and dictating these days.

Michigan State's 4-3 wreaks havoc in the Big 10, UNLESS they are playing Meyer's spread or OOC against Oregon's spread. **** Baylor lit them up like a Christmas tree in the bowl game even though they won. I think the best way to play in this age is to have severe edge rushers. Might need two players who could play safety/linebacker (Think Cash or Grace). It's so critical right now to have guys who can run sideline to sideline and play in space.

If I was a coach at a D-1 College right now, I'd be picking up 2 and 3* RB's and trying to turn them into linebackers, because that's the level of athleticism that is required to play the position these days. ****, imagine if you turned Mark Walton into a safety/linebacker kind of player. That kid would be knocking dudes out left and right.

Even as we speak on the Canes roster, there exist the ability to play a defense full of hybrid players. Put Jamal Carter down around the box as the 3rd safety with Deon and Rayshawn deep. Grace and Kirby at linebacker. That would put one of Grace or Carter on either side of the defense to knock out all the short stuff. Shallows, screens, slants...neither of those guys would have trouble with drops either and they'd be able to get around the backfield in the run game.

But we play Tyriq at SAM instead of replacing him with a player in the secondary that is probably better than him.

I laugh every week when the idiots come in and say wow we sucks we gave up 30 its not 1980 anymore guys 30 is top 15-20

You miss the fact that we are playing bad teams with bad offenses. We should not be giving up 30 to teams like that.
