he has taken big steps for me. the third down defense at this point in the season is dramatically improved from last year.

**** that. He let that crippled offense get two TDs and got burned on the flea flicker call if it wasnt for the execution.

That first 3rd and long they converted was MADDENING

The D dominated because of 9, 97, 99, 56, 4 and all the other ballers we got back there.
 
The defense played great but Manny is still very predictable. That 3rd and 14 on the first drive... You know they're gonna do some sort of screen and he sends the house. This was a complete defense tonight though. Our offense, special teams, and some dumb penalties put the D in some bad spots. My only complaint was a few of the 3rd down calls including the one I mentioned above. Sometimes cover 3 is ok.

If you're a stud defensive player in high school in South Florida, why wouldn't want you want to play in this system. It's just plain fun. The third downs are frustrating (a lot). But where else are you going to get as many chances to pressure, turn the ball over, get on national tv with diamond-studded chain?

Also, 200 yards total offense for FSU. That's **** impressive.
 
Heard that Jaquan took off on the D at the half. :neonu: didn't hurt when they put Berrios up on the big board urging the fans on in the 4th. And what about Ray Lewis? Loved it.
 
Y'all was just firing this man a few weeks ago. Gotta love CIS. Emotions change like the seasons except more frequently.

I have never understood the Manny hate on this board.

1. This aint the 80s man. The days of holding opponents under 100yds of offense every game ain't coming back.
2. He gets a little blitz happy. But would you prefer what we dealt with PRIOR to his arrival?
3. His scheme is all about creating havoc- he does that and then some. Blown coverages are a part of EVERY scheme. Ya'll don't think Ed and Sean ever missed a tackle or a play?
4. I hope Diaz loves Miami as much as it seems and he continues to get his players in and develop this defense. Along with Dugans, he earns his money week in and week out.

I'm happy to see you're acknowledging some improvements. I think the extremes on Diaz are unreasonable, as I've noted. I'll talk more about yesterday's performance on tonight's podcast with @DMoney.
