While we await the Gainesville regional, I thought some trivia might be in order to pass the time. I looked at College World Series results since the 1994 season, which was the first year Jim Morris was at Miami, and found that 12 teams have either made 7 or more appearances in Omaha or won 2 or more titles (or both).

So, here are twelve different sets of factual information. Anyone want to guess which team is which? Ideally, without using google or wikipedia for help? I'll try to check the thread a couple of times a day to answer any responses

The following information is listed for each of the 12 teams:

Team 6 Vanderbilt
Team 7 FSU
Team 8 Texas
Team 9 Oregon State
Team 10 Miami
Team 12 LSU

Still looking for Teams 1, 2, 3, and 11.

Miami has played each of the remaining teams in Omaha since 1994.

i think i know #2 and 3 but since I looked them up after i was wrong on wich st, i wont answer and ruin it for others.

1 Rice

2 has to be Cal St Fullerton. That’s the only other multiple champ team I can think of.

3 is Stanford. Assuming that after they mentioned the 7 in 9 years stretch on the broadcast tonight

11 USCe thanks to the Arizona broadcast for mentioning the 2012 title series that reminded me of USCe 3 year run

Yes, all are correct. We beat Rice in Omaha in 99, they beat us in 06.

Cal St Fullerton beat us in 04.

We dominated Stanford for the national title in 01 (hard to believe it's been 20 years). Stanford's last win in Omaha eliminated us in 2008.

South Carolina eliminated us in 04. We also blew a 9th inning lead against South Carolina in the deciding game of the 2002 Super Regional when we were an underdog 3 seed (not 3rd seed overall, 3rd in our regional) who upset Florida to win the Gainesville regional that year (anyone remember Jim Burt's heroics in those games?)

Anyhow, I hope you all enjoyed trying to guess these teams.
