Cold, Harsh Reality in Charlotte(thoughts on Clemson)..

That’s how Clemson finally got past Bama in that championship game the first time. They ran like 100 plays. Bama couldn’t get off the field and was absolutely gassed.

Beast, I saw a stat about that game, something to the effect that Bama throttled Watson and Clemson for like 65-70 plays, and then the last 30 or so, got gashed all over. Tempo matters...

Agreed. That’s my concern. What happens the day they are no longer here?
better know how to croot and hope Diaz has learned his lesson and doesnt get sold by a conman anymore.. This season will show any and everybody that the platform at UM is huge and if you are up and comer and want to prove your worth, this is the spot to do it. Diaz will stay out of your way and actually support you going all out aggressive, tempo, and go for it on fourth down..

Wow...I was there as well that night and thinking about the QB play then vs what I’ve seen the past 3 games, it’s almost comical.

Rosier will be a legend forever for 2017 in Doak, but the gap between him and D’Eriq King is so wide it should almost be illegal to say they play the same position.

A QB this good literally changes your entire football team. Miami will have a chance to win because of D’Eriq King. You take a Miami roster and put it around a kid that good, and add a competent coordinator whose scheme matches his skills perfectly....and you’ve got a chance to put up major points on anyone you play. Only problem next Saturday is the QB on the other side of the field is the only one he’ll see all year who is better than he is. But 1 gives this team a chance to win, no doubt.

Yup. I remember watching and taking to my friends who some are Bama fans (I’m from the great state of Alabama) and it was pointed out that night how they couldn’t get off the field. Literally the last drive the defense look like the were stuck in mud they were reacting so slow.

if we can put together multiple long drives the way we did against FSU to start the game, it could really give us a shot. We need to be north of 75 plays or hit on 4 big play TD’s. As I have been saying, Lashlee has to put up at least 35 to win.

btw I was at that Clemson vs Miami game in Charlotte and I can’t get over how bad Rosier under threw Thomas early in the game. Thomas had their defense beat by 10 yards and Rosier threw a duck.

People forget that the QB position is the great equalizer. Louisville sucked but then got Lamar and all of a sudden they’re ranked #3 going to play Clemson. Clemson before they were a juggernaut had great QB play. Then the defense caught up and they win ships. Now they have defense and the QB which makes them so hard to stop. Bama will have to perfect everywhere this year with Mac Jones. But the Ohio states and clemsons of the world with their first round passers have margin for error

It is quite simply the most important position in any sport.

In the VAST majority of cases, the team with the better QB wins. It is absolutely the great equalizer, as you mentioned. There is simply no more important position in any sport as far as the impact it has on the success of your team. Miami has plenty of talent to compete with Clemson. If King goes and plays out of his mind, which he's VERY capable of, we can be in the football game in the 4th quarter, and then who knows what happens. It's going to be hard to beat Trevor Lawrence and a first round LT and a first round talent at RB. Etienne can start on 10+ teams in the NFL today, and Lawrence can start on 20+ NFL teams today. It's hard to beat literal NFL players. But we don't have slouches. There will be some NFL players wearing orange and green, too. But the kid in the middle of it, King, holds all the cards. You can't beat Clemson with a game manager at QB who makes some mistakes and doesn't stress their defense. You can if your QB goes nuclear and just fires dimes all over the field and makes plays with his legs. D'Eriq is more than capable. I really wanna see us go drop 17+ points in the first half and see if they tighten up some.

Agreed with OBM..........get as many points then keep it close, especially with the kicking game..

One point that many posters miss, and that is............
Lawrence is good and NFL caliber , but he MAY have an off game, and that gives our chances a plus in implementing our plan..

All good QB's have THAT game, and it may be to our advantage........we have a punchers chance, and we will be punching with Lashlee's game plan.

When was the last time anyone scored 21 on the first 3 drives on Clemson? Our Offense is good but not that good.
I think the most likely trajectory of the game is very similar to Miami/FSU from 1999. We played even with them in the first half (21-21 score), but ultimately FSU pulled away and won by ten.

I’ll be happy if we make it a game. That being said, if Miami is in striking distance in the 4th, i don’t think that plays well for Clemson.

I was at the game in Charlotte. I must say, Clemson fans weren’t awful like I was expecting. They talked glowingly about the direction our program was heading. It was weird.

Classic misdirection, talk glowingly of your enemy to throw them off
