Proper nomenclature is not "East Greenwich Village" or "West Greenwich Village." There's the West Village, Greenwich Village and the East Village as separate and distinct. Dividing lines are Sixth Avenue and East Broadway (or Third Ave, depending who you ask).

Greenwich Village proper is basically between Sixth Ave and Third Ave and 14th Street and Houston.
