Coaching staff retention

FWIW, some rumblings from Flo that Dawson might take another position and that we will know for sure in 2 weeks. Should that turn out to be true, who do we want?

Trumpycane wonders when’s the last time we were bringing back this many coaches

Exception right now is Woodiel, which seems like an addition by subtraction.

Its been awhile since the culture was to the point where players and coaches alike want to stay.

Glad Woodiel is gone too.

I’d guess we being in a TE / ST type. Hopefully at least.

The days of us have to hire TE/ST or RB and Recruiting Co. combos are long gone.

Look at the UM coaching staff we have 1 Special Teams coach (Kalter) and 2 assistant ST Coaches (Isa. Clay James)

Even have 3 dudes listed as “QB coaches” (Max Drisko, Ed O som and forgot the other) and another guy (Mike Cassano) listed as chief offensive strategist though I think his title has changed.

Man, you start being good…u lose coaches….but Dawson is more of an asset to me coming back despite me not loving his tendencies than starting new unless we go really big. Hold onto defensive coaching at all costs…wouldn’t mind a huge splash at OC, but short of that…bring me continuity.

This was absolutely huge especially for defense. Multiple of the position coaches could easily have been poached. Also unlike others I like returning Dawson, he has been very solid OC with a HC that isn’t easy to mesh with. I like having consistency there and am ready to get back to 2024 form on O.

IMO - Dawson is a very good OC & we would be very good once again on offense, if he comes back. The players that we have already + adding Mensah & Barkate should make us a top 5 offense in 2026. The only other OC I would want is an NFL offensive mind like Ohio St did with Arthur Smith. In the NFL, they aren't considered elite but that type of mind in college, IS. Joe Brady is one that comes to mind for me. If he doesn't get the Bills, Cardinals, Raiders or Browns job, maybe he decides to come back to college, win a championship and get a HC position in 2027. Once you interview for a HC spot, you most likely dont go back to that team as anything less. Most OC jobs would be taken at that point. Going to college and proving to everyone AGAIN that you are THAT dude, would make him very wanted in the 2027 cycle, both in college and NFL.

Thoughts @DMoney ?

Arthur Smith is absolute ******* garbage.
That's your opinion to have but a person that has been an NFL HC is not garbage. Has also been an OC on multiple playoffs teams. In the college ranks, that is way above what most college teams have. Joe Brady would do that for Miami. In fact, even with me liking Dawson, I would let him go for Joe Brady.
