For years here on CiS the argument has been that we don’t have enough talent to dominate, and while Mario has no doubt improved our talent, it’s also been proven more than ever this season that coaching, scheme, development of players and play calling matters a lot.
Under previous corching staphs, great talents like Toney, Bain, Mesidor, Thomas, Poyser, Pringle, Daniels, Justin Scott, Scott, Lucas, Frédérique, etc., would have been wasted and not developed.
Corey Heatherman is our best coordinator in years. The guy is a savant.
Our offense has looked completely different after the SMU loss, and that’s not by chance. It looks like Mario knew at that point that he needed to let Dawson cook. I would still like to see us play with more pace, but we have definitely improved.
I’ve been as critical of Mario as anyone, but we finished the season strong and deserve to be a playoff team.
