Coaching Carousel

My predictions.
Texas A&M: Jimbo Fisher
Nebraska: Scott Frost
Tennessee: Chad Morris
Arkansas: Mike Norvell
Arizona St.: Kevin Sumlin
Oregon St.: Jonathan Smith
South Alabama: Chip Lindsay
Rice: Lance Anderson
UTEP: Kendal Briles
Kent St.: Ed Warriner

That would be career suicide.
Arguably the worst job in college football.
On the other hand, if he manages to win an even paltry 7 games, he will
be able to, and should, jump to a bigger program.

I saw on the ESPN ticker Herm Edwards being interviewed for the Ariz St. job.

Further evidence of delusional schools and administrations. ASU is just an example.

1. Herm can't coach.
2. Why would you look at Herm as a college coach, period?
3. ASU's press release, when they fired Graham, said they expected to compete for conference championships. Huh? Look up the records. Since 1916 ASU has won or shared a total of three conference championships. Three. In a century. And they fire coaches because they don't "regularly contend". Morons.

WTF are these schools thinking? Just bad business decision after bad business decision. However Richt turns out here, he is the guy who forced Miami to really invest to try to achieve the results they target. Finally Miami seems to have a plan.

Agreed.
I thought Graham did reasonably well this year.
I think part of their problem is that they have 2-3 assistant coaches locked up in multi-year contracts, and they want their next
HC to retain some or all of them.
But Edwards as HC?
What a mess.

Except for the part where a person is willing to take the Tennessee job, that all seems reasonable.

Would Butch Davis take the Tennessee job? Would they ask? I hear the Cleveland owner and big booster Haslem has been standing in the way of potential hires like Kiffen and Leach.

If Jimbo leaves, FSU should go after Norvell. I don't think they're smart enough to do it though.

Never understood why ASU is consistently mediocre-bad. They have some of the lowest academic standards in the country so they should be able to accept almost any player regardless of grades. They're about a 5 hour drive from the LA area and the high school talent in California. Plus, Arizona has good JUCO football programs to pull talent from too. Pluses of having warm weather and lot of hot coeds and it seems like a slam dunk to attract enough talent to at least win 8 games a year and compete for the Pac-12 south title fairly regularly. Herm Edwards would be a laughably bad hire for them.

As far as Tennessee goes, why aren't they taking a look at Norvell? He has Memphis playing lights out and they're located in the same state! Obviously he knows the area and how to recruit it. This makes too much sense so of course Tennessee would whiff on a solid, logical hire.

Well one thing about Herm....” He plays to win the game”....just don’t think ASZu does with this hire...

if this happens..

then ......
