Coaching Coaching Carousel 2025-26 - Not Miami Related

THIS IS WHOLLY UNSUSTAINABLE

Not one ******* peep from ANYONE about how much they don't make, or the cost of goods, etc.

This season's foolishness is going to have massive structural impacts on college football and drive all manner of unintended consequences...generational knock-on effects and not in a good way...

Wonder what the total is across FBS for all fired coaches still being paid?

It's a rock and a hard place, these schools and coaches are in love with each other in the beginning, then when it goes sideways, the chickens come home to roost and someone is left paying the tab.
It's crazy to think the reported estimated cash FSU needs to fire Norvel is 100mil.

This is the NIL Correction/Bloodletting. The old model of wanting to lock in a coach so he can “build a program” is dying.

It’s being replaced with a more NFL-like model. I bet we start seeing more 3-4 year Head Coaching deals with guaranteed money upfront and no more buyouts.

In the era where it’s perceived that you can just buy talent and recruiting classes, boosters and collectives won’t wait around anymore for coaches to “get their guys in” after a couple of cycles.

This is most likely bad for the Old Guard of coaches who want the stability and have their process, but could be better for young/up-and-coming coaches.

Will be more opportunities, quicker, as many schools will be taking more hiring shots when the new guy can’t get it done quick enough.

What about coaches who carry around binders full of pillars? Where does this leave them?

Watching jmu vs texas st. Is Chesney viable option to step up to power 4 coaching job?

One would think no but after what his predecessor at JMU has done at Indiana, it wouldn't surprise me, as folks who hire and fire are often copycats.
The caveat I would offer is Cignetti logged many years at big programs, establishing his recruiting and coaching trees for that level of football.

Too bad Willie Fritz is older or he would be top name

Same as Cignetti, Chesney has
Won everywhere he went

Yes, his name was being mentioned with a P4 opening.
Mario should have a list of replacement coaches for when we lose some coaches. I would already have spoken to Orgeron to see his thoughts on if he would take a DL coaching job to stay here. You have to be ready.
