In a heartbeat, he left on good terms. The issue is that Smith is likely better off taking an OC gig somewhere and waiting for something better, Oregon State is a nothing job, because they are in limbo. Reforming the Pac 12 with a bunch of midmajors isn't going to get the job done.

Wild that Penn State, who fired their coach because he couldn’t win big games would be interested in hiring Matt Rhule, a guy who made his whole career on beating garbage teams and losing to anyone with a pulse. He’s like a discount version of James Franklin.

But he "Fits the culture". There's a reason why my college roommate(Who was from the area) consistently called it Pennsylvtucky.

Not sure if it's been discussed in this thread, but Cowherd had Pate on his show yesterday (or the day before) and they talked about the Franklin buyout in some depth.

We all know it was a huge number, about $50 million to be exact. What was fascinating about the discussion is that Cowherd stated he heard from his sources that the buyout was actually PAID BY ADIDAS on behalf of Penn State.

I mean, if this becomes a thing where Nike and Adidas start having direct input on the coaching staffs for their flagship programs this circus could get even crazier.

No he just read the same article everyone else did that I’m pretty sure they already denied. Unless it happened in the sense that Adidas paid them $X and they used that to pay the buyout….
