UAB was such a success story at their level of football. A relatively new FB program that was relatively well-managed and coached only to be dropped and then, like a Phoenix rising from the ashes, came back and, again, competed at a high level under Bill Clark and his coaching staff. Everything went to Hades after Clark stepped down and made this goofy hire.

I have to think the head coaches at Auburn, BC and Cal may not make it past December. Also, how much longer does Ferentz at Iowa have?
Sumrall, Golesh, Lashlee, Franklin, Matt Campbell, Silverfeld, Eric Morris, Stoops, Will Stein, Dan Mullen (and counting) set to make career moves. My dark horse is Matt Campbell plus the Kansas and Kansas State coaches to be on short lists too. Also, I think the coach at Miami (Oh) may sneak up on one of the bigger jobs.
Should be an interesting off-season.

This and coaches taking players with them ala Cignetti (JMU->IU), Jerry Kill (NMexState->Vandy [players and coaches]), Cade Bell (Western Carolina->Pitt), etc.
In the case of Franklin and StatePenn, I would like to see us exploit situation with any kids they may
recruited, or are recruiting, in the DMV area.

All things considered, Rhule is the best realistic option for Penn State. He went there, so he knows the culture in Happy Valley. He's a program builder. Give him resources, and he'll win a lot of games.

As a Penn State hater - don't want him there.

Franklin may have reached his ceiling, but seriously is a two-game skid is worth getting fired and a $50 million buyout, plus perhaps buying out the coaching assistance staff later, plus buying out someone else’s head coach and staff.

I know they lost three in a row, but losing to Oregon in OT is not shameful, even at home. Maybe the vibe in Happy Valley is so unhappy the team is about to call it a season and tank.

I would ask, who are you going to get that’s better? No guarantees of course, but you’re not gonna find someone with a better resume.

Don’t underestimate the fact that the Paterno weirdos have a ton of influence there and I think they’ve been waiting for this exact moment for years.
