Wild. Like we talked about after Franklin got fired, they clearly want a PSU guy/Paterno way guy. I just never thought a. rhule would turn them down then b. they would seriously consider hiring Smith.

The question I have with Smith as I do with Franklin now at VT, is what happens to the current StatePenn OCs and DCs. Do they stick with State Penn if Smith gets promoted, do they follow Franklin or go elsewhere? Those two coordinators are highly regarded.

Probably should’ve happened but this is kinda dirty after he stayed loyal to them over taking his alma mater, Oregon’s job after Mario left. Hopefully the interim, who’s a good coach, inspires them to ruin SMU’s season for us.

They know they're not keeping Sumrall. Slim chance is if they make the playoff and teams aren't willing to wait until December 20th to hire him. With the portal not opening until January, won't be an issue.

Good for him if he gets that job but I’m not sold on Dawson as a HC, yet.

Helluva FCS coach from the NDSU pipeline. Took over a 48-33 program & now has them at 57-12 since 2022. HOWEVER, w that said, the last few FCS elite coaches have kinda struggled at the next level. His predecessor at MTSU, Choate, has been an unmitigated disaster at Nevada.

The Bama of FCS, NDSU, have sent the following coaches to the next level:
•Matt Entz at Fresno (2025-present): currently 7-4
•Klieman at KSU (2019-present): 53-24 (5-6 this yr)
•Craig Bohl at Wyoming (2014-2023): 61-60

So it’ll be interesting to see how Vigen will do in the rebranded PAC-12 w limited resources compared to the rest of the FBS world
