This is the time of year where I hate the NFL.
Here you have college football programs wrapping up their seasons, recruiting done as well as
hiring and firing coaches with a few days before spring football commencing only for these a-holes to begin hiring coaches from the college programs.
It reminds me of MLB conducting their draft in the middle of college baseball postseason.
Annoying.

And if they get in the right situation they shoot up the ladder quick. Zac Taylor went from being the OC at the University of Cincinnati to the Head Coach of the Cincinnati Bengals in about 2 1/2 years. Crazy.

In the old days a young aspiring coach was better off starting at a small college program and working their way up the ladder. But it's better in the NFL for the fortunate few, especially the minority coaches as you get to work in the staff with many coaches so you get opportunities to network and not have too much responsibilities at once.

I remember when people actually thought Iowa was going to modernize their Offense when they hired Tim Lester from Western Michigan, but they actually passed the ball less last season than they did in 2023.

Kirk Ferentz simply doesn't believe in throwing the ball, doesn't matter who gets brought in, none of these Coaches have permission to do anything with Iowa's Offense because Ferentz has complete & total autonomy of every personnel decision made & controls all play calls.

If I'm Bowling Green, I look at Warren Ruggiero and Dino Babers. Both guys who have worked there and won, with experience running an offense. Marrow and Monroe are standout recruiters, especially the former in Ohio, but in the MAC you need real coaches who can coach on game day as no one is going to out-talent their way to wins.
