Take this with a grain of salt. According to some respected ND guys Ludwig was a done deal to the Irish until they found out the buy-out wasn’t what they thought it was.

Apparently the administration people got Ludwig's old contract in which the buy-out was much lower (500k circa). When they had the real amount (2,8 million) they tried to negotiate with Utah who refused firmly.

Another hurdle in this was the AD who didn’t like Ludwig at all and basically stopped Freeman in his quest to pony up the money for the buy-out.

Pretty crazy stuff if it’s true.

I wouldn’t pay $2.8m for the buyout of an OC. You can find a strong OC for much less. Year 1 would cost you $5m for an OC with buyout and salary lol
