I had heard of summerall attached to the UNC job as well however never heard of Schumann. Huh.

Glenn Schumann, Georgia Bulldogsdefensive coordinator: He's only 36 but might be the most established name in a largely picked-over coordinator market. Schumann was a candidate for the North Carolina job that ultimately went to Bill Belichick, and should gain consideration for most openings in the region. The Valdosta, Georgia, native has spent his career at two A-list programs -- Alabama and Georgia -- and can be somewhat picky as he occupies a great situation in Athens. "Florida State would make a lot of sense," an industry source said.

Jason Candle, UConn Huskies: Candle went 81-44 in a decade at Toledo, including two MAC titles, but surprisingly couldn't springboard from there to the Power 4. Will a somewhat surprising move to UConn get him over the hump? Predecessor Jim Mora worked wonders at UConn, an FBS independent that has made strong investments in its program. Candle, 46, has overseen productive offenses and also shown great balance as a coach, as Toledo finished fourth nationally in scoring defense last season. Immediate success at UConn could put him in the mix for jobs at Boston College and Syracuse the next time they open.

Skip Holtz: He hasn't coached in college since his nine-year run as Louisiana Tech's coach ended in 2021, but his name hasn't been forgotten in industry circles. Holtz, 62, coached the USFL's Birmingham Stallions from 2022 to 2025, going 33-7 with three straight championships. After taking care of his father, Lou, in the final weeks of Lou's life, Skip recently said he's not retiring and would seek the right opportunity. He has 151 career wins at four college programs. "I would take Skip tomorrow," an industry source said. "Part of the problem last year was his dad was real sick, but with that behind him now, I think Skip's ready."

Anyone who has spent even a single year on Saban’s staff will have their value boosted until they retire from coaching. Huff probably won’t bolt at Memphis asap however he will be a top target as time goes by.

I think T-Rob was smart to go work for Saban before he retired. Will payoff down the line.

He also worked for James Franklin, Ralph Friedgen, Joe Moorhead, and Chan Gailey. A decent list of names.

Didn’t have an AD firing happening before any coaches on my bingo card. I guess technically the second one after the UCLA guy.

Looks like Norvell isn’t going to make it to our game. Sad!
 
Manny, despite the extension, seems to be angling hard for the FSU HC job. I’m skeptical they’d hire a former Miami HC, but if they do, I don’t think I’ll ever stop laughing. Foreva ever :roll-canes2:

FSU tried to get Lane then balked, however, @ hiring Manny’s former boss in James Franklin. So that adds to my skepticism. And all this information makes me highly doubt they go with the nostalgia jimbo hire.

FSU, much like UGA and Clemson, are intertwined with Alabama football, which includes but is not limited to the college program, at their core, in varying degrees. And so, i feel like they look at Jimbo’s success in a different light, and although he lost recently, even Dan Lanning’s level of success is something that they want.

Schumann seems like enough of a blank slate as well as young enough to be especially exciting for the fanbase as well as energized & knowledgeable enough to do the unglamorous parts of the job—with both of his parents’ careers in college athletics—and has ties to Texas football.

P4 head coaches like Diaz, PJ Fleck, Jake ****ert would all leave as soon as they hang up the phone if offered the gig; yet I don’t see any of them having strong enough cases to be hired. And they won’t go the G6 HC route after Norvell; even if they aren’t opposed to it, it’s slim pickings right now because of how many were recently hired away the last few cycles.

I don’t see many if any potential candidates at the p4 level. A lot of guys just got new jobs and the most wanted HCs are coaching at their Alma maters (Dillingham, Brohm, Key last cycle but not anymore lol, Kalani Sitake, etc). Deion is a non-starter for FSU; Diaz has a better chance. I don’t see Eric Morris leaving after one year; though I’d make the call if i were FSU. If FSU wouldn’t pull the trigger on James Franklin, Elijah Drinkowitz is dead on arrival. Willie Fritz has the résumé however no way they hire a 66-year going on 67-year old coach.

Lashlee is someone Clemson fans want but Rhett just turned his Alma mater + former place of employment (Arkansas & Auburn) because he likes where he’s at with SMU. I’d put Rhett in the same category as Joey McGuire at TT who are backed by big donors and have no reason to look elsewhere.
 
Wake Forrest’s HC Jake ****ert, Wisconsin-Stevens Point alum, will be/currently is moreso battling it out with current New Mexico head coach, Jason Eck, former Wisconsin walk-on, for the Wisconsin job since Fickell & the badgers are again looking like a 5, 6, or 7 win team this year, which is year 4 (18-22; 10-17 during his tenure so far; 1-0, 7-6 (5-4), 5-7 (3-6), 4-8 (2-7), 1-1. I can envision him, like Billy Napier, ending up a G6 HC. If he doesn’t want to go back to the projects, a lot of schools would rush to hire him as a DC.

****ert will be a contender for the Clemson job imo, as will Tony Elliot although I’m skeptical either party wants that reunion to happen atm. More likely that happens down the line like how Brohm turned Louisville early on in his tenure at Purdue.

my too early prediction for Clemson is that Kalen DeBoer amicably, mutually, parts with Alabama after failing to go 11-1 or 12-0, and Clemson pays the small-ish buyout of 7M to get him to replace Dabo.
