It makes no difference! It’s a preference thing for the coordinator. Just need someone upstairs you trust to tel you what he sees. Telling the coordinator the formations and the personell can be done by a position coach and analyst

Kind of funny watching ED Reed on the sidelines, looks like his clothing line came from New England head coach dress line. I think Ed will probably have some input this week on what he saw on defense, he looked at little confuse on what we were trying to do

I have been told by someone in the press box that the only UM coach in the coaches booth was Rumph along with a couple analyst. Both coordinators and the rest of the position coaches we’re on the sideline. Talked to several guys in the business and a few ex players, one coached here and they were shocked. Hard to believe, hope my guy was wrong!

It's a big deal because our fans are nuts and always looking for something to whine or stir **** about.

Don't shoot the messenger, but it was brought to my attention by someone that has never told me anything. Patke had his left shoe untied the entire 2nd half.

No huddle OCs always stay on the sideline. There’s a lot of “check with me” and on the fly changes that he signals in. I’m sure there’s a spotter in his headphones updating defensive personnel changes.

Lashlee can coach the game from my living room for all I care.

One game and I'm on board. Loving the fact that he's focusing on execution out the gate, not trying to show how smart he is by drawing up some wiz bang plays.

"Here's what we're going to do. When you get that down, we'll do some more" = improvement throughout the year. Not that - whatever the **** it was - we saw at the end of last year.

He also showed that, if something's not working well enough, he'll change mid game. His offenses in the past have thrown it all over the yard, when needed, Run it down their throat, if it's working.

Like I said, I'm on board with whatever he wants to do with the O, and frankly, it should make the D better since Manny can spend more time on it.

He looked confused? How could you tell? I think this Ed Reed look of confusion as to what we were doing defensively needs its own cispool thread.

Ed's take...

"I'm suiting up and will blanket Atwell. Couch will start and Ivey will replace Carter @ safety. Press man (Coach Macho style) all game."

In the box or on the field, not sure it matters much with our defensive staff. No flame intended at all. Just how I feel. Could be wrong.

as long as they have people up there they trust. Most of the guys in box are just watching 1 part of the field and then relaying that info in between series. I hated being upstairs.

Can confirm. DJ's dog is my sauce.

Ed is an advisor NOT a Coach. Yes he will have input, but he will not be hands on as the Coaches are.....that was laid out in his joining the Canes.

With all the technology nowadays this isn’t a big deal. They can literally see every angle they want, With every alignment.

On to the next porst about nothing.
When people that have played here and coached here at the highest levels comment, I will go with their calls over the everyday fan. When they saw one coach in the booth they could not believe it. Just an observation, I know the CIS insiders know more than our ex greats and members of some of the finest staffs ever at UM. BTW, what technology does UM have that Clemson is missing because they had several coaches upstairs Saturday night.

This isnt surprising. Usually want your main coaches down on the field and someone who can name personel and formations fast up top. The DB or LB coach is usually the one up top so they can see how the team is lined up the best. When I coached our DC would go up top cause he was very quick in knowing what they lined up in, Were looking for, checking if we were right. Etc. But that sometimes doesnt work cause we needed him on the sideline to provide motivation.

Keep in mind we have guys with college coaching experience in the booth. Pata and Telly off the top of my head.
