This is worth a read, a list of every coach in CFB and how much job security they have. The list ranges from 0 to 5. 0 meaning the coach is untouchable, 5 meaning win or be fired.

I was totally surprised to see Coach Golden was only at a 1 on the scale.
A 1 on the scale means no matter how many games a coach loses a change is unlikely. My personal opinion I would've had Golden at 2.5, meaning he's safe unless we have a losing record. What do you guys think?

That 1 is for 2013, they gave Al a score of 2.5 for this year - exactly as you.

I'm surprised Muschamp only has a 4.5 - he lost to Georgia Southern at home, thats as bad as it gets. If he doesn't win 9+ games then he is good as gone.

Thanks for clearing that up, didn't even catch that. And yeah year 4 is always make or break for a coach. You can either keep pushing towards dominance or get pushed back into mediocrity.

because contrary to what the malcontents on this board think the cloud was considered a legitimate negative force and everyone knows golden has at least through 2015 maybe 2016 to win something.

Sorry guys. Y'all are delusional if you think Golden will be fired barring an epic collapse...like win 2 or 3 games or something character related. The truth is that Golden bought himself a couple of years with the who NCAA thing. He looks like the white knight in this. ****, he even turned down his alma mater! We know what really happens, but that's the narrative. The only way he leaves is if he leaves IMO

In another post, TedHendricksOffspring, laid out what his administration sources indicate, worth locating and reading. His scoop appears to be close to the source as opposed to media making their opinions important or real.

He is a 2.5. Regardless of the season, I dont think its Golden thatll be anywhere near the hotseat this year...Dno, for sure. If we have a terrible year then he probably will definitely be on the hot seat next year but even then I think he will be here at least 3 years (counting this year).

You think he turned down Penn St? Really?

Depending how contractually obligated we are to keep him, that's dependent on buyouts and resources for the next head coach, is how hot his seat is. I would think with the long term contract it's in favor of us, but nothing would surprise me with the powers that be and it's probably not.

I'd love to say that with a ****** season (don't confuse things, I'd rather have a great season, but if it goes the other way....) he is possibly gone, but when he didn't fire anyone last year....I had the sinking feeling we ****ed ourselves with that extension. It gave him another year since he hasn't used up his fired assistant card, but we'll see.

All speculation since we don't know the contract details. The ACC revenue sharing will keep the AD in the positive and who knows, maybe being a top contender is no longer a priority.

agree with you up until the "turned down his alma matter". He would've been out of here if they offered him it.

He is untouchable though, sadly.

The only way Miami has such a bad season that firing Golden seems plausible is if the QB situation is disastrous and/or Miami's D is the same as last year or somehow worse.

Miami D could be Top 50 and it wouldn't matter if the QB play is any less competent than it was last year; Miami would be an 7 win team at best regardless of the Defense.

Sarcasm was subtle. The narrative around the country is that he had a chance to go to PSU and didn't. We all know what really happened, but I promise you that Golden is above reproach this year barring an epic meltdown. He still has the "Nuke the entire coaching staff" card to play anyway.

He said we know what really happened but AG will use that as one of his spins

Now the question will they call for his buddies head if the D blows again?
