I don't feel this punishment leads to repercussions.. if you are injured on the field it is probably best to be out at least a drive following the injury, but it'll stop a cramp from killing a 2 minute offense hahaThis stuff is always dicey, cuz the last thing you want...is a player trying to play through injury to avoid repercussions
If he's actually injured then he should be sitting for at least a little bit anyway. What about this would push someone to play through an injury when there is no penalty if they do sit out? This stuff is always dicey, cuz the last thing you want...is a player trying to play through injury to avoid repercussions

But without the rule they would go in anyway because "the adrenaline is pumping". So if anything, this would protect them by making them sit outThe penalty is sitting the whole drive in a crucial moment...people risk it all when adrenaline is pumping

Sitting out 1 play and knowing you can go back in is way different than knowing you're out for the whole driveBut without the rule they would go in anyway because "the adrenaline is pumping". So if anything, this would protect them by making them sit out
But if they are so hurt they can't get off the field and have to disrupt the game, then they are too hurt to come right back in after 1 play anywaySitting out 1 play and knowing you can go back in is way different than knowing you're out for the whole drive
That's fine. I'm talking about players who could come off for minor injuries instead of making it worse by staying on.But if they are so hurt they can't get off the field and have to disrupt the game, then they are too hurt to come right back in after 1 play anyway
Then they can still do that. This rule is about players that lay on the field, stopping the other team's drive and momentum....often fake. But if real, then if you can't get off the field right away, you clearly are hurt enough that you should sit for a while. That's fine. Dont' give refs any more reasons to toss a flag pleaseYou could also just penalize the team if the kid is walking around fine than suddenly drops to the ground like they are shot after looking to the sideline.
100% - get subjectivity out of this process.Dont' give refs any more reasons to toss a flag please
