Coach Speak: Richt and Brown talk spring start, position competitions

Final minutes. Clearly written in my post. He was great in the final minutes of some games.

The player that was great in the final minutes was Langham. He bailed him out on a bad ball against FSU and did it again on an even worse throw against GT. Sure, Rosier had some moments prior to those plays, but if Langham doesn't don his superman cape, we're all talking about Rosier's poor play.

It's been said by many people that the FSU throw was a great back shoulder fade. It was a good catch by Langham too. But Rosier put it right where it needed to go.

Everyone remember how bad Brock Berlin was his JR season? I know Brock was a much more heralded player but lets not give up on Malik just yet. He had some very good games and some ridiculous gamer type throws in the early part of the year. He def got banged up but also just regressed. Perry needs to beat him out and I think that is going to be tougher than you think.

Lets not give up on him just yet.

They are both accurate.. his throws in the final minutes of some of those games were spot on and beyond clutch. This revisionist history is bs. People here were lauding him after his performance vs FSU, and rightfully so.

totally agree with this. First thing I thought of was the last drive vs. FSU and specifically the back shoulder throw to Langham to put us ahead for good. He also had a great throw on one of Berrios' TD's that could be considered (taken in isolation) as elite. Unfortunately, there were more bad plays than good on balance. But the good, were **** good.

I see this thread turned into a typical bxtch fest about a coaches comment that's obviously more credible than any of ours on this board

Malik did have moments where he looked "elite"... should a coach that has a real relationship with his team just talk wreckless shxt about a player like you clowns do on a messageboard??

He's doing his job, Malik has every opportunity to win the job, they're not sugarcoating **** with him behind the scenes... Malik knows what he has to do or he won't be the starter. Chill tf out.

What is going on in this thread? Are you guys arguing about whether Malik should be the starter next year or if he had any good moments last year? I hope he's beat out if he doesn't become much more (consistently) accurate but the idea that he did nothing well at any point last year and made zero big plays is false and revisionist history.

In what alternate universe was that a bad throw to Langham to beat FSU? There’s plenty of fodder for guys bent on attacking Malik to use. That throw? LOL

People can say what they like, but that wasn't supposed to be a back shoulder fade pass. Rosier was supposed to throw to the pylon and that's evident from the way Langham was running the route. Instead, he had to turn spin his body around and save our ***. Additionally, the safety wasn't the reason it was thrown short, he was too far way to make a play of it was thrown accurately.

Want to see a back shoulder pass on the money, Berrios with the TD.

We caught a break there, end of story. I'm not going to complain and Rosier made plenty of second half throws contributing to the win. Still doesn't change the fact it was a poorly thrown ball.

Rosier was bad all season. Idgaf about his "late game heroics" He finally threw a few accurate bubble screens and slants to win the FSU game we should've won by at least 10 and he gets a prize after not being able to cross the 50 yard line the whole game? Friggin trash.

He stalemated any semblance of a run game with his inaccuracy and terrible decision making in the read option/zone read.

Almost every game he was complete trash. Yall really need to go back and watch the games. Some of you were clearly drunk if you're defending him in any sort of way.

The Georgia tech game? he gets credit for throwing into double coverage? That was all Langham. Ball shoulve been picked. period

We had all the momentum in the OB and driving, with the lead, in the redzone this guy ruins the game throwing a pick when we could've blew the doors open.

He kept every team in the game single handedly with his terrible play.

I will respect the fact that he earned the job and bled for that orange and green but he does not deserve this praise.

Those comments after the Pitt game are unforgiveable. Hes a cane for life, but with an asterisk in my records.

Who’s your drug supplier and what are you on?

The “Malik having moments where he looked elite” comment is your shark jumping moment with the “ good fan troll schtick”.

Or you’re back eating bath salts again. Either way it’s just bad.

“If you look at his great plays from last year he looks like one of the best in college football"

This just simply is not true. I saw nothing that Rosier did that was elite. It would be far more accurate to say, "If you look at all the bad plays from last year he looks like the most incompetent QB in college football."
Haters gonna hate. I see both as true.

Well 98% disagree with you. I'm gonna side with them.

I agree 100%. Some do lose touch with reality.

I've OFTEN said that I wish someone would step up and take the job from Malik. OFTEN.

But I'm not going to deny that Rosier played at a very high level at times during some games. To deny that is to try to revise history.

Those 10 wins didn't just show up in the win column and it did take having the heart of a champion to lead those comebacks. Nobody complains about how passes from Montana or Brady weren't on the mark when they were caught for game winning scores. BUT, that is part of what drives me nuts about him.

My issue with Rosier is his infuriating inconsistency. Knowing that he can have those elite moments then watching him dissolve into complete and total mediocrity...sometimes within the same game. In the last three it was for almost the entirety of those games. Those last three losses were an embarrassment to ALL of Miami , him included. This team deserves better.

I just want a lot more consistency and accuracy from the position. Malik delivered that at times. I want someone/anyone on board who can deliver it Most of the time , not just at times, and stop this "yo-yo" production from the QB position. IF NOT, we're going to look back at this receiving corps loaded with future All-Stars and wonder how/why any team wasted all that talent by not having someone who could get them the ball consistently.

Not improving our QB productivity would be a total waste of a potentially great season
