So is this basically what they'll be doing all throughout February or every month?
This is exactly what I was thinking. It is unsafe to put players through extreme workouts before they are in good condition.**** looks intense.
he took these to georgia from fsu. there are a bunch strategically-placed trashcans around the gym because they make guys puke on the reg.
mat drills also (literally) killed devaughn darling because of their intensity and him having the sickle cell trait.

It would be better to END Spring practices period with these drills than to start the Spring with them.

8-12% of African Americans have sickle trait, so a significant number of Hurricanes likely do as well. Darling and others in college who have died sudden deaths have almost exclusively collapsed during early training camp workouts due to inadequate conditioning. These don't happen during the season or later in camp. I will trust the trainers and medical personnel are closely watching and aware of this, but to talk like this is because we are "soft" on these kids shows you don't understand db305's comment
My Drill Sergeant did that to us Squad Leaders in Boot CampI use to hate team drills where if one dude Screwed the whole team suffered. **** that ish, make his *** run or start over
When I coached youth football, I would let the person who messed up actually lay back and chill with a cold water bottle while the rest of the team had to do it all over. What that did was allow peer pressure and the team to understand how one person can mess things up for everybody. Trust me any player rather have a ****ed coach than 50 ****ed teammates.
umm..coach u would of lost the team Coach Philbin style if u did that to me...first time that happened kid would get rocked who messed up?...u coached in s.fla?...
I felt the same pain..lol...or holding that M16 in a parallel position..lol then have to lie.. when ever he asked if we had enough..and we answered **** no..we want some moe...lolMy Drill Sergeant did that to us Squad Leaders in Boot CampI use to hate team drills where if one dude Screwed the whole team suffered. **** that ish, make his *** run or start over

From Dave Hyde article...
"...The first day's subject was discipline. Players can't be a minute late for class or they run at sunrise. Players must keep lockers clean or they run at sunrise. Players must wear the same clothes in the weight room or....
"Any stealing, you're off the team," said assistant Mike Rumph, the former American Heritage-Plantation coach.
The point is, this isn't just about personal discipline. Miami was the most penalized team in college football last year. The Hurricanes averaged 9.8 penalties per game. The next worst team, Baylor, averaged 8.8...
"You don't have personal discipline, you won't have it in the fourth quarter of games," said linebacker Shaq Quarterman, a recruit from Orange Park who enrolled at Miami in January.
Do you think Richt's message is sinking in when a new recruit repeats it?"
If true, this is a great first step in transitioning the actions of disparate individuals into the focused effort of a team. Quite simply its a force multiplier--just basic military-derived discipline and attention to detail that has only been proven to work without exception over the last 3,000 years...
AWESOME...can't wait to see if this new organizational strategy can translate into a dominant and successful ACC program.
