Coach L

The cloud didn't seem to affect the basketball program. Is there a bigger fraud in sports than Al Golden?

Man coach L could give two **** about facilities and sanctions. Coach L came here to win. He doesn't have time for excuse making.

"Joe, it was 9pm tipoff. That tough on our players" **** you never hear Coach L say.

Yeah, I get it. Coach L has some big wins, won an ACC title...but there are some real head-scratchers in there, too. Losing by 28 to Eastern Kentucky? At home? Losing to Providence and Green Bay at home? Regardless, there's no question that the hoops team is in much better shape. Coach L was a good find (who gets credit for that by the way?).

Every basketball coach has losses like that. The depth of talent is so much greater in basketball, not as big a gap between the top and the bottom

Can you have an off night? This is basketball, it is more than one game. Providence was on the road (neutral site) BTW. Green Bay is 14-3, maybe this year's FGCU. EKU was bad and an off night.

Golden has an off career so one night is understandable, right?

Coach L just won by 16 at Duke. Were you aware they had a 41 home game winning streak. They're a top 5 team too.

Coach L achieved more in one year than our football program did since we joined the ACC.

Who gets the credit? Coach L and his agent. They were willing to explain to our admin what he accomplished.

I'm not diminishing the accomplishments. Coach L has shown that he can win big games with less talent (novel concept). But that makes the "off" nights more puzzling. ProjectMK gave a good explanation above. The differences are smaller team-to-team.

Golden and his agent did the same, no? (willing to explain accomplishments). The point is that hiring coaches is hit or miss when you aren't playing on the same field as the big boys (by choice in our case; I think we can afford to, we just don't). Shalala takes the well-deserved hits for Golden and Shannon, but she has to get some credit for Larranaga, too.

Providence game was in Brooklyn and they are a tourney team. Green Bay is good too. Eastern Kentucky is the only bad loss.

But great job being negative.

Given your first sentence, Coach L is granted a couple of bad losses. Because that **** usually goes out and beats the likes of Duke, UNC, and other quality programs as well. Let me know what Folden does next season.

You guys realize Coach L has a winning record against Duke since he has been here (3-2) unless im mistaking.

2 of the wins are on the road. Coach L has more wins up at Duke than Al has.

Sorry, I thought negativity was required around here.

This is a Miami basketball thread, not a Gonzaga one.

Gonzaga now has the longest home court winning streak in the country. Thanks :based-duke2:

Just for football. That's where it's warranted.

That was so refreshing after that crap season of college football ended yesterday. Golden has got to go. We don't want him here, and he has other places he would rather be. And yet we're stuck with this coaching staff for another season. I'm done with Canes football and sending in support until Golden and company are gone.
