This is another asinine statement to make. Haters keep bringing up the fact that he hasn't coached in five years.

Newsflash...he's been coaching for over 3 decades. Good/great coaches don't all of a sudden forget how to coach.

Almost all great coaches that wind down their careers with less success are burnt out and have lost their passion to coach/recruit, not their actual ability to coach/recruit.

Butch is hungrier than ever. He wants to finish what he began and make it even better than it was before. Passion and drive can lead to people achieving things that most others would look at as impossible.

His eye for talent is still elite, as it is a gift. He also knows how to develop talent.

i think the lesson for the BOT to learn from Coach L's success is that winning parlays into revenue. the program sold out the season tickets allotment (or all tickets, not sure which) which means more money. how many more tickets can the cane football program sell because of winning? how much more money can that generate?
