Yes, Kul was (is) a really good DL coach. but he was half checked out of here from the day he arrived. Wanted to be in the NFL, and couldn't relate to the obligations of being the DL coach for the Hurricanes. Not a good fit for The U. Couldn't recruit for sh*t. The dude couldn't convince an ISIS jihadi to **** on the wall of a kosher deli.

But think about this: He spent a decade and a half in bumfack Missouri, dreaming of the league. And now, his replacement? A former HS coach? Has more NFL experience than he does.

It must chap Kul's *** ... To me, the switch of Kul for Simpson is an upgrade.

Kul's lazy *** pulling in lots of cash at Bama. He ain't bummin.

same cash he was making here ....

and had a friend who was a GA on Saban's staff. Said it was the worst experience of his life, and no amount of money could make him even talk to the guy again.

by the way, this friend is a well respected position coach in the NFL now.

but i hear you. if he doesn't want to recruit, at some point, he needs to get out of the college game

He wants an NFL job. He's gone after jobs with the Saints and Bucs already...he went to NFL-lite in Alabama, where he has a connection, where they've had a ton of assistants go to the NFL in the past few years. If his work of getting countless Mizzou players into the league and now getting four Miami guys to the league, I guess he's gotta go to the dark side.

I'm not hating on the guy like many are here. Was a clear case of "its not you, its me" and he is doing his thing to go be a pro coach. Wish he did it here, but he also sucks as a recruiter...with that said, he is putting four DL in the NFL this year from Miami (Chad, RJM, Norton, and Trent Harris)...but eventually, you need to recruit players as a position coach at Miami. He wouldn't/couldn't do it, when DL is an arms race. Not a good attribute to have, but I won't act like a jilted lover over it. Wasn't a great fit even though he's a great coach.

Is he your dad or something, how do you know how he feels and if he was "checked out" or not?

Interesting news.

Kool can go **** himself. I care about him as much as he cares about the program.

Im just curious to see how his coaching translates at Bama. His lines at Missouri and Miami were asked to do a totally different job than his line at Alabama will. The guy made a career with lean pass rushers, not 300 lb behemoths playing 2 gap responsibilities.

He wants to get to the NFL, Bama is a faster track for accomplishing that than here. Also face it, there are also just so many more ways for an Bama position Coach to make extra $$$ in Tu$caloo$a too.

Everyone on Saban's staff is well known by the local yokels, so they ALL do commercials for some business in the area. Everyone of them.

And always remember why Bama is so hard to resist; If Bama was an airline, they'd be advertising that there is no limit or charges for extra $$Baggage.

So I seriously doubt he's bumming out @ Bama and I have no need to try to tear him down.
So what? He's gone, Well I got over it before he got out of the room. So Bye & Good luck Coach Kool.

We speak in half truths. #1 yes kul hated recruiting. He blatantly sucks at it & is too old to relate to kids especially inner city kids. #2 its not true he was just begging for an nfl job offer so he could clear it. Just like dugans last year, kul had multiple nfl teams offer him the dl job. This was a mutual decision to move on because we physically cant have a staff member not working both sides of the coin. If we could have a huge staff like bama we could tell him dont worry well recruit em you just coach em. But thats not reality here.

here what you are saying, but that part is not true.

he was offered a quality control job by one team on defense. THAT is true.

if anyone says he was offered a DL job? that is misinformed

Suppose thats possible since i didnt bother listening but i know of atleast 3 teams i was on campus while they were interviewing him. But all the same thats true that they didnt necessarily offer him just cause they interviewed. I never bothered to ask him about it after that day.

Hopefully not well. Then he'll beg us to take him back but we'll totally say no way because we've got somebody new and we never really liked him that much anyway and isn't he sorry now? He'll probably write us sad poems and threaten to take his own life if we don't take him back.

Was wondering about this.
Seems to me that he his philosophy is completely contrary to what they do at bama.
