Coach Golden talks about the Defense on WQAM good news....

I can endure losing and have for the 10 years now, what I can't accept is a used car salesman making bull**** excuses to defend his friend that is solely employed due to nepotism. That is unforgivable.

Unforgivable is you not knowing what nepotism is.

From dictionary.com

Nepotism: Patronage bestowed or favoritism shown on the basis of family relationship, as in business and politics: She was accused of nepotism when she made her nephew an officer of the firm.

more definitions. It's interchangeable in today's understanding of it.

Nepotism is a form of discrimination in which family members or friends are hired for reasons that do not necessarily have anything to do with their experience, knowledge or skills.

Now suck my **** you illiterate ******

Let me help you out.. The word you are looking to use is

CRONYISM

u dumb ***. and that goes to Zone and waianaeCane for liking your misapplication of the word.

Concise Oxford Dictionary
Definition:
the practice among those with power or influence of favoring relatives or friends, especially by giving them jobs.

favoritism, cronyism, nepotism are interchangeable. Yes nepotism is used for familial relations, but they can be interchanged. If you don't like my usage of it, take it up with the concise oxford dictionary that I quoted above.

Again suck my **** you illeterate ******

Only dumb ***s use nepotism interchangeably. The rest would characterize a situation like there is here with Golden and D'onforio as CRONYISM.

What a piece of ****. Throwing the offense under the bus, yet again, to save his best friend.

The offense was a major problem. In the Louisville game the defense played well for first quarter and a half while offense had 25 yards and defense wore out. I have said all year that our offense with their consistent 3 and outs were hurting the defense. We couldn't get out of our way on 3rd or 4th and short because we ran the same plays every time. Duke had FOURcatches in 8 games while opponents killed us with RB on wheel routes. I'm glad that Coach Golden is finally calling out the offense because it is a major problem with lack of ball control.

But he's not calling out the offense. He's just making a point that what one side does or in our case fails to do affects the other.
I'm sure Coley is well aware of needing to improve 3rd down conversions.

And what people are losing sight of here with weak attempt of polarizing the issue is that in either case IT ALL FALLS BACK ON GOLDEN.
Defense, offense, 3rd down conversions, ALL OF IT.. falls back on Golden.

To the Demented Douches on this board:

Your schtick is old and tiresome. Enough already. Go find another team to bash and denigrate (look it up, fools).

I was at the Maryland game. It was embarrassing. The D was no better all season. AG is learning on the job (hopefully). The man had an interview and tried to save face. Let him have it. The continuous classless bashing is even more embarrassing then the D, and it's used against our recruiting.

Shut your vaginas up already!

All the rah-rah bull**** aside, what was in fact used against us in recruiting was the horrendous defense, and the passive scheme we run.

who did we lose out on because of our defensive scheme?
Last I looked the defensive recruiting haul is loaded with aggressive type players.

Valentine

Didn't he commit knowing what the scheme was?

Good news will be if we beat Louisville and the Defense holds them to 300 yards and WE WIN....

until then all this is Meaningless Bull **** by our staff..

Its put up or shut up time...

Everyone in the put up or shut up mentality is in for a rude awakening next season. The talent on the roster, combined with both the schedule and coaching, don't see how we win more than 7 or 8 games.
While I agree with most of what you post, I don't get the talent on the roster reference. I have been one of Gulden and staffs biggest critics of late but this will be the most talented roster he has had since arriving here.

Are we at the level of LSU, Alabama, or Florida State? **** no but we are slowly but surely assembling a nice squad in terms of overall talent.

That being said, I agree with the jist of your post. The 2014 schedule will be tougher imo and the coaching is mediocre at best. We should win 9-11 next year but I fear it could be 6-8 if the bottom falls out and Fat Albert flat out loses the whole team.

He may be referring to talent at QB and DT. The important positions on the field where many are predicting we're gonna be severely undermanned next year. We'll see. I predict bad things.

Love how he talks about the defense NEVER getting off the field on 3rd down.

Yeah the truth hurts... but our offense did not help by never converting a 3rd down. Maybe he is protecting the D but our offense does not sustain long drives and can't stay on the field. If you think we got killed by UL only because of our D, then you are mistaken. We started the game 2-0 and our offense laid egg after egg. The defense sucked this year but our offense did it's fair share to expose them. Let look at our worst loss of the year...

(2-0) Miami started the game with a stalled drive but he defense got a safety after a great punt.
MIAMIFL drive: 5 plays 39 yards, 02:21 MIAMIFL PUNT
LOUISVILLE drive: 2 plays -2 yards, 00:48 LOUISVILLE (UM Safety)

(2-3) Miami O losses 4 yards on a 3 and out. D bends but keeps UL to a FG.
MIAMIFL drive: 3 plays -4 yards, 01:49 MIAMIFL PUNT
LOUISVILLE drive: 9 plays 55 yards, 04:16 LOUISVILLE FG

(2-6) Miami O stalls again and got stopped on 4th and 1. D holds UL to only 16 yards and a FG.
MIAMIFL drive: 5 plays 16 yards, 01:55 MIAMIFL DOWNS
LOUISVILLE drive: 6 plays 16 yards, 02:14 LOUISVILLE FG (Mia 42)

(2-9) Miami O goes 3 and out again. D gives up long drive but holds UL to FG.
MIAMIFL drive: 3 plays 4 yards, 01:11 MIAMIFL PUNT
LOUISVILLE drive: 9 plays 57 yards, 02:39 LOUISVILLE FG

(2-16) O goes 3 and out again when a TD would tie the game… instead the D gives up the first of many TDs.
MIAMIFL drive: 3 plays 11 yards, 01:45 MIAMIFL PUNT
LOUISVILLE drive: 7 plays 80 yards, 03:52 LOUISVILLE TD

(2-16) O fumbles at the UL 5 to end its first good drive that would have made it a one score game. D hold UL to 3 and out.
MIAMIFL drive: 8 plays 55 yards, 02:38 MIAMIFL FUMB
LOUISVILLE drive: 3 plays 9 yards, 01:40 LOUISVILLE PUNT

(2-22) O gets ball with 2:52 left in the half. A TD makes it a 1 score game before the half but instead they go 3 and out AGAIN. Defense gives up TD before the half to blow it open.
MIAMIFL drive: 3 plays 7 yards, 01:07 MIAMIFL PUNT
LOUISVILLE drive: 6 plays 60 yards, 01:15 LOUISVILLE TD

The second half did not have as many drives as both teams were able to sustain long drives. The difference was UL had a 20 point lead and converted 2 of them to TD. UM only converted one and turned the ball over inside the 20 on downs. Our defense could not make the stops needed for a come back , but our offense did do much to show that it was capable of making any sort of comeback either. This game was lost in the first half and I think the offense was just to blame as our D.

LOUISVILLE drive: 12 plays 85 yards, 06:49 LOUISVILLE TD
MIAMIFL drive: 13 plays 41 yards, 05:45 MIAMIFL DOWNS
LOUISVILLE drive: 10 plays 70 yards, 05:07 LOUISVILLE TD
MIAMIFL drive: 7 plays 55 yards, 01:56 MIAMIFL TD
LOUISVILLE drive: 9 plays 63 yards, 05:52 LOUISVILLE FGA
MIAMIFL drive: 3 plays 0 yards, 00:30 MIAMIFL PUNT

We all know that our D has a bend but don't break philosophy. As frustrating at it may be, they did their job in the first half. Had the Offense scored on 1 of the 7 drives, we most likely would have went to the half 9-16. That would have made it a very different game in the second half. Our D is not good enough to carry the team and win games but it did enough to keep our team in the game had our offense played better.

Well then AL, I guess there is no excuse if the D performs bad this year. This should be D'onofrio last chance...

Okay, the offense did stink last year and was helpless once Duke went down. So Coley might not be able to coach either, but we didn't start calling for Mark's head the first year. If Coley doesn't improve this year we will be measuring him for the axe also.

I for one am not so much interested in more blitzes, but rather a return to our Dline attacking the line of scrimmage and getting into the backfield instead of dancing with the oline to hold them in place. Disruption of the play in the backfield is always a good thing. Without forward pressure from the dline, blitzes will not help. You need guys like Chad throwing olinemen into the QBs lap. Then anything you do will work. We have to reset the line of scrimmage on the opponent's side of it, not 7 yards on our side of it.

This putrid defense has nowhere to go but up...its just not possible for us to play any worse. Most of the jags from last year are gone and now are best athletes should be on the field for the most part. If this defense does not drastically improve, there needs to be firings...including you Al.

Golden doesn't need to scapegoat D'Onof.. randy was scapegoating people left and right because he had to. Also, firing D'Onof won't change our defense.. so what would it accomplish?

I can't believe I actually opened this thread expecting to see that Golden said something of substance...same sh*t different day.
