I'm not arguing the money isn't available, I'm saying they're just not trying to spend it because they rarely do.
No doubt. But even James and the BOT have to realize that they can't go cheap in this situation.

The bama OC gets 1.1milI don't mind them taking their time & finding the right guy, no problem with waiting.
However I don't actually think they're interviewing a bunch of candidates either. I believe they missed on Fedora because they're not trying to pay more than $1million at the max for an OC & considering they're only paying Diaz $3.1mill I sincerely doubt they're willing to pay top dollar.
The hold up among other things has probably been they really only wanna pay $700K - $900K at the most.
THIS.Offering Fedora 1 million dollars does nothing to him unless Miami was going to pay more than what UNC is paying ATM to not coach, it didn't matter.
It’s been a week and a day since Diaz was announced . Maybe it just feels longer to people because of all the speculation but I really don’t think waiting a week is so long for such a critical hireSeriously don't understand the reason for waiting so long on the OC hire.
That was before they had to pay a buyout to Temple.
It's not that Miami doesn't have the money they almost always do, especially with a huge ACC network payout coming this year, cash is not an issue. But when they're paying the HC $3.1mill (which would be 37th-38th amongst P5 coaches) I don't see them paying $1.5mill for an OC.
i believe Fedora had offset language in his unc contract so he's going to get paid the same regardlessI don't mind them taking their time & finding the right guy, no problem with waiting.

And we would also need a top 15 coordinator to justify it. Which we don't have a chance at this offseasonAranda & Venables are the two highest paid coordinators with Aranda making $2.5 & Venables making $2.2mill. Kevin Steele at Auburn is getting $2mill, Mike Elko at TAMU makes $1.8, Todd Orlando & Jim Leavitt are both making $1.7mill.
There are only 20 coordinators making $1mill or above, 4 of which already have new HC jobs including Bama's OC Mike Locksley (their new OC Dan Enos will get $1.2mill), yall really think Miami is going to pay an OC $1.5mill?
I'm NOT saying they can't afford it, they can, I'm just saying paying over a mill for an OC would put them within the top 10-15 for P5 coordinators, that's not something our administration is known to do.
It would be nice if they did & I hope they do I just doubt they do, that's all I'm saying.
Jeff Fisher is the splash hire

I guess not everything you say is fun and games. Agreed on this one.Didn’t they offer Diaz 1.5 million when Richt was making 4 million?
I don’t buy the “cheap” talk.
Exactly. Richt walked away from a 16M buyout. Manny is making much less than Richt made. The new DC has to be making much less than Manny made. ... There's no way the money isn't available.

THIS.
If Fedora or Applewhite haven't given a definite YES it's not likely a salary issue, it's their desire to get one of the open HC jobs out there this week.

I am starting to lean to this side.. I just think he might not be like a Todd Bowles typeThe bama OC gets 1.1mil
Fedora wants to be a HC. I seriously doubt it has anything to do with money

If the argument is it hurts recruiting , how many big time 2019 recruits that haven’t already signed or made their mind up with 3 weeks to go do we actually think are basing their decision on this hire ? Not many if we’re real . I think Manny knows this despite what he said about naming the OC before the dead period ends, which still isn’t til Thursday btw
TROY which lost Neal Brown to WV...What HC job besides Temple is out there at this point?
