This might sound nuts but anyone think it might be Golden holding him back from being more aggressive? the guy coached at Georgia and under Schiano, those arent passive systems.

Albert was a LB coach and a Defensive coordinator. His coaching roots are on the D side, his fingerprints are all over the D. Sounds spot on. Coach D is just his yes man.

I was just having this conversation with another fan and it is not a popular one as everyone is ready to axe Coach D. I have always said that this is AG's system and he is religious about it. I felt that at times when the players expressed frustration perhaps Coach D was given a little liberty and he let the players play (Cincy, Ark St, VT). I could be wrong but I honestly feel AG is the ball and chain to Coley and Coach D. Again, this is where AG needs to take a page out Saban's book and let the coordinators go. Yes, challenge them but don't hold them back.

It could be Coach D but I'm inclined to think that it is AG forcing a conservative B1G approach.

Al strike me as a micromanaging control freak. No unusually traits for HCs. This is Al Golden's defense; he has made that very clear. It is impossible to tell if Mark is a good or bad coach. All we know is that Al's defense sucks. It does not help to fire Mark and keep Al, unless Golden gives up control to new DC. The time for Al to fire Mark has long since passed. If he does it now it is merely job preservation. It would buy him 2 more years and ruin the career of whoever replaces Mark.

^^^BINGO^^^

Never knew he was a 2nd round draft pick by Green Bay, actually became a starter his rookie season, only to fall to an injury and retire....
I'm a Bit impressed, his Defensive Coordinator was Ray Rhodes

Good Lord....am I actually reading posts that are mildly sympathetic to Coach D? Flip flop much??

Co-signed. We just saw a prime example of this during the vt game, when Coley was blasting Kaaya for burning that 2nd timeout.

Let your coaches coach.

doesn't matter at this point, he'll be the Goldens scapegoat regardless

Schiano wasn't overly aggressive as a DC. He did not run bend but don't break either....
