Cmon Bubba

Wait, so Bubba's "struggles" in the first scrimmage was that he missed from 50 & 57 and that's it?

Feels better to know that his misses in the first scrimmage were 50+.

Bubba has the leg talent to make some long *ss field goals over his time at Miami. But, for his freshman season, all I ask is to be consistent on the short and intermediate stuff. If we have a reliable kicker from 45 and in, we are in great shape.

Agreed, be consistent and make all of the PAT’s, and hit 80-85% on FG’s especially inside of 50+yds.

* The kicking situation coming out of the scrimmage?

Freshman Bubba Baxa was much better after missing both his field goal tries in scrimmage one (from 50 and 57). He made all three field goal tries and hit his extra points.

A side story line to keep an eye on is the guy who has emerged as the No. 2 kicker this fall - he's a graduate senior transfer from Fordham who is doing well ... Alejandro Cardenas. If Baxa falters he'll be the guy UM turns to. He hit his only field goal attempt last night. Here's Cardenas' bio from Fordham.
I said the other day that Rick should have brought in a grad transfer Kicker in case Bubba catches the yips. I didn’t know he did exactly that. I wonder if Joel Rodriguez still has connections at Fordham and if that’s how we got Cardenas.
