Closer look at NC's Air Raid

A note on Ivey: It was said on a Rivals podcast last night that Ivey took some medication given to him for a dental procedure without checking with the staff. There was some Ingredient to the meds that caused him to fail a subsequent urine test. It was a hard lesson to him and the rest of the kids about something innocent. Compliance was involved which is why it was out of Manny’s hands.

Just sharing the report....

I wondered why all the Clemson guys had their teeth fixed last year . . .

Yeah. Guys are gone with the wind if they think Gurv is contact shy.

And anyone expecting a Safety in this defense to be incredible in his first real game action is nuts. You analysts need to relax a bit.

I remember watching Ed Reed struggle early in his career Booch even benched him. Reed retired as a top 5 Safety in the history of the game.

UM fans mocked a young Brandon Meriweather for two years for getting trucked by Otis Wilson who outweighed him by 40 pounds.

No one hates our players more than our fans.
It’s unreal and gets worse with the more hype we get. And also what the f#%* is a Sabetta?

This would make sense cause Ivey is a good kid by all accounts. Hard to imagine him doing something more serious.

We should, but it always seems to be a ****show in Chapel Hill. Emotionally preparing myself for another struggle.
Yeah, but it was always a struggle without capable coaches in the past and it appears we've upgraded in that department. I'm not saying a video game like blowout but a comfortable win.

Probably Tylenol with codeine.

Hall has never had problems with contact
I’ve watched the game again. It seemed like the defensive scheme was contain. A few times I even saw Garvin hold up on a play even with a clear lane. Same with the backers. I wonder if it would’ve been better to just let them boys lose. GURVAN afraid of contact? That dude bodies mfers.

They’re insane if they claim Gurv doesn’t have range. He might have been thinking a little too much in his first real game action. But if dudes are already passing judgment on his range they’re out to lunch.

But most of the dolts on here we’re claiming Bubba is too skinny and won’t help us this year. So take it all with a boulder of salt.
In no thread have I said Gurvan Hall lacks range. The opposite. On top of that, I noted instances of good pattern recognition against UF.
I've noted Carter's relative lack of range. He shouldn't struggle that badly when the **** coming at him from UNC is predictable. It's on motion or improper alignment that he doesn't have the attributes to make up lost ground.

The constant down talking on Amari Carter is gonna need to come to an end this season.

He played 56 snaps the 3rd most of anyone on Defense & arguably had the 2nd best performance behind Bandy.

This slander of AC5 is honestly ridiculous, go rewatch the game our Secondary did a great job, we didn't lose the game because of them, we lost because our Offense is still sh*t & can't do basic fundamentals like blocking, catching & passing on time.

Amari Carter is going to be a starter ALL year & he's going to break out his Junior year just like Jaquan, Rome Finley & Redwine all did their Junior seasons. Hate to break it to yall, but Bolden is not replacing him at all.

The duo of Amari & Gurvan will be fine, yall over exaggerate these narratives about players way too much.
Nuance, man. Nuance is lost on this board. Apparently, on Canesinsight, you can't mention a player or coach's strengths and weaknesses without everyone harping only on one side. And, making a conclusion. There's a 3 page thread with a play by play breakdown of our Safety play against UF. Much more accurate to look at every play than to talk about any player in generalities.

As for Amari, it's not talking him down to note his relative strengths and weaknesses. On the bomb play, the issue was more alignment and late decision than actual range. For the very most part, depending on how we choose to use him as the boundary Safety, he won't be put in that scenario often. His bigger issue, if opposing teams are smart, is going to be against inside WRs running breaking routes on him. If I'm an opposing OC, I pop my quickest guy out of his breaks at slot on the boundary, send him sufficiently vertical, and repeatedly force Amari to change direction. Until Amari proves he can handle that, it's one of his vulnerabilities.
