I figured he’d be next in line to start once Vaughn leaves. And he’d have two years of starting cause he took a shirt already. Dumb move
I think just this year as he hasn’t played in more than 4 games.Disappointed in his decision. So if he transfers to a a new school now, will he have to sit out this year and next year?
When Clark, as a true freshman was named starting guard, I was going to post my belief that we may have an avalanche of OL transfers. You gotta believe given all the negative press, knowing staff has no confidence in them and figuring the current freshmen OLinemen and future recruits will be given preference, as one would suspect, some would move on. Didn't think it would be Reed, but you gotta think one or more of Herbert, Dykstra, Hillery, Kennedy and Campbell have all considered moving on to somewhere they could play.
Frees up a scholarship.
Probably not the last lineman who will transfer.
One of the downsides to playing such a young line is the older guys are going to dip.
Best guy plays, good luck elsewhere.
Who recruited Clark? We have a young Oline that will do mature well and be a good one soon. We need incoming freshman to love to compete and to not bounce at the slightest amount of adversity.
The Bust label gets tossed around too quickly, especially with RS freshman and OL kids. Takes a couple of years for some of these kids to develop physically and skill set wise. Some faster or slower than others. It happens at every level. What’s disappointing is how quickly these kids bail at the competition. The premise is that it makes everyone better and hungrier, perhaps. But the Portal is another option to grinding it out, fighting for PT, and learning and schooling yourself to improve. The disappointment are the walkaways. It seems that the Portal doesn’t account for character and fortitude. Or,... maybe it does. Hate to see any kid with talent leave CanesNation. The Cleveland Steamer was a pretty highly touted recruit if I remember correctly. Our scouting department sure hits on alotta busts or is that just me?
Jess Simpson
Any offensive lineman in that room will tell you he a top 3 guard on the team from Gaynor on down
That guy knows his stuff. Even recruiting diamond in the rough OL. I really wish we had kept him.
Everyone's situation is different. I am not here to bash the kid. However, this move appears to be weak as f'uck. N'Kosi and Martell both just got passed up in a high profile battle, by a freshman, and yet they both stayed. ****, Martell even switched positions, which in essence shows that he is not afraid to compete. Reed would have a much better chance of seeing the field as a backup O-Lineman than Nkosi will being the backup QB, yet Kosi is still here.
Work your *** off, compete, and be there for your brothers. Reed getting passed on the depth chart by a true freshman (Clarke) is a reason for him to worker harder and fight like **** to regain his place on the depth chart. That shows character. That shows a "dog mentality." That shows perseverance and resilience. Leaving just shows you probably should not have been here in the first place, because that is just some weak *** s'hit!
I get it it. He got beat out by a Freshman so he sees his dum future here and if he transfers now, without playing in more than 4 games, I believe he can redshirt this year and play next year (unless he’s already redshirted).
